[big]Targeted guinea pig farm closes[/big]

Gladys Hammond was related to the farm's part-owner
A Staffordshire farm is to stop breeding guinea pigs for medical research after years of intimidation by animal rights activists.
The family-run Darley Oaks Farm in Newchurch has been at the centre of a campaign of abuse.

Owners and staff have received death threats during the six-year onslaught.

The family said they hoped the decision would prompt the return of the body of their relative Gladys Hammond, whose remains were stolen from a churchyard.

Hoax bombs

The remains were taken from her grave in nearby Yoxall in October.

Mrs Hammond, who was buried in St Peter's churchyard seven years ago, was the mother-in-law of Christopher Hall, part-owner of the farm .

The Hall family have also been subjected to hate mail, malicious phone calls, hoax bombs and arson attacks.

A spokeswoman for the business, David Hall and Partners, confirmed the site was to stop breeding the animals.

I want them found. And I want SO19 to empty a clip into their heads.

Fundamentalist or animal rights, who cares. Either way they are terrorists. Regardless what the various groups say, they resort to bombings, intimidation, threats, digging up dead bodies and in some cases murder.....

As far as I am concerned they are terrorists and they should be treated in the same manner that all of the other types are treated.....

Yep, I'd have to agree, I see 'activists' as CND types, tying themselves up to railings etc, now, a group that can dig up your long time dead relative and plonk the body somewhere else to proove a point, that would be terrifying for the family (and anyone else who seen it), add the death threats into the equation and, yes, I think there's more than a basis for tese scum to be called terrorists! They use terror to complete their idialogical objectives, activists! dont be silly!

I've related this before, but I got stopped in the street by a very polite Animal Right's activist asking me to sign a petition to stop cruelty to animals. When I replied that I would rather sort out cruelty to humans first I was subjected to an absolute torrent of verbal abuse. Case of showing your true colours there, I think.

These people are sick. Totally ed up in the head, if you ask me. Since when are animals more important than people? Exhuming and stealing the remains of someone's relative and trying to destroy their lives and livelihood? Because, of course, that's far less important than some ing Guinea Pigs, isn't it?

Totally Agree Don.

I have close connections personally with several medical professionals who can only work by doing important experiments on live animals. (uwually rats and mice but also guinea pigs).

These trials mean that common drugs like varients of paracetamol and ibuprofen can be passed for human use and for hospital drug trials. Used in the care of cancer, leukeamia and many other human health applications. In order to pass these drugs as safe (and we all know the implications of unsafe drugs - look at Seroxat from Merck getting a hammering this week) unfortunately animal trials on a small scale are necessary.

I have no problem with opponents of animal testing lobbying against it, in some cases it isn't necessary and could be stopped, however in others it is justified and the resulting products from those tests save life, and relive pain in humans.

Fine if you want to boycott all these products on an ethical basis, just when you end up in hospital, don't accept any painkillers - otherwise you'd be a hypocrite....

Maybe if the Animal Rights Activists volunteered themselves for essential medical testing in place of their precious animals then everyone would be happy?

No? Didn't think so.

Absolutely

It is fine to make a stand and even protest against it. In many cases a long term campaign has convinced many companies to adopt a "not tested on animals" stance. However, when these loonies resort to fire bombs, letter bombs and even car bombs (I remember a couple of scientists targetted a few years ago, one of whom died after having his car blown up!), the this is the line - peaceful protests are fine and a democratic right. Murder isnt and hence terrorists.

I did a quick google search to find some records of the bombings that I remember. Unfortunately I just found a whole bunch of websites from bleeding heart lefties who have probably never had a job, moaning about being classified as a "terrorist" and how the government is looking to stamp out all forms of protest.....

Hardly you soap dodgers - its to stop the rise in morons like those who dug up a dead body and forced a legitimate and legal business to close its doors. As you can tell, this really does get my back up. ers.....

The people who have been campaigning against this particular farm have been incredibly nasty.

IIRC the farm had two sources of income, actual farm products (can't remember whether livestock or agriculture) and breeding guinea pigs. The animal rights people then started a campaign against the farm. They discovered where all the non guinea pig customers were and victimised them, this meant the farm had to concentrate on guinea pig breeding to make ends meet.

The animal rights people then started victimising all the local shops to stop supplying or helping the farm, the bank, the post office, the local supermarket etc.

This is on top of the continual vandalism the farm has faced.

Its very sad this has happened. The guinea pigs will now be imported away from the prying eyes of the animal rights people.

What I don't understand is why they were never given more Police protection and why the demonstrators didn't have supervision orders put on them - eg you have to stay at least 1 mile away from the farm etc.

they are terrorists and no different from Bin Ladens mob. The only difference is they are supported by fully paid up members of the liberal elite and so they are "rightonguardianreadingbbclovingsandalwearingunemployabledogmapushingcarhating" slime who should be deleted from the gene pool. Just give me an industrial meat grinder and I will feed the third world too.
