Adding a Turbo to a Ford CVH engine

Hi,
I am looking to buy a Morgan 4/4 with a CVH engine. It has the same engine as a Ford XR3.

Can you easily fit a turbo from a RS spec car?

Would their be a big increase in performance?

No you cant "easily" do it.

The compression ratio of the RS is lower than the Xr3.
Then you have to have oil and water feeds(and returns) to keep the turbo happy.
Not to mention all the associated plumbing.

If you really fancy doing this itd be simpler to just go the RS route. Its setup to do what youre asking it to.

As DF has said, you may aswell fit the lot, engines can be had for peanuts nowadays you just need the whole injection and ecu setup aswell though.
Initial gains wouldnt be a great deal apart from the extra torque, but get a boost upgrade and you'll soon be flying

Have you considered fitting a zetec/duratec, much better engine?

not to mention a massive increase in EGT. Most turbos I believe have sodium filled valves to cope with the extra heat generated by the turbo.

id would either go Rs turbo route (i think about 1500 for a recon complete engine) or go zetec! nice and cheap and been done a zillion times before (well in kit cars)!

and if you get bored you could always fit a turbo to the Zetec! boosted LS1 on here sells lower compresion pistons for the 1.8 and 2.0 i think! they made some nice numbers on the 1.8 to!!!
