anyone got an easy fix for the blinking wash wipe system on the elise??? - I've got an S2 and washing the window gets it lovely and clean, then the ba***rd wipers keep on wiping 4 times untill it's all smeared with c**p again. - it's driving me nuts!

about a year ago i think eliseparts did a wee box to turn it into a 2 wipes per wash system, but I can't find it on their website any more. - should have bought one then!

anyone got a fix before I have to kill the wipers?????

I made that mod the other weekend, very easy to do and makes a massive difference now.

Anybody done the BX wash bar on an S2 ?

I can see how this fits on an S1 because it only has a single front bonnet, but the S2 is two side parts.

I think on the S2 you would have to drill a hole next to the normal washer jets and make sure you dont hit any pipes/heater stuff then seal back up one fitted. Does that sound about correct ?

Thanks

you could change the wiper relay. There have been lots of threads on this, about 6 months ago. I got a Bosch one, but left it in my deceased liz, this time I was told it was now discontinued. BUT I went to a local scrap yard and took all the relays i could find out of late/newish VW golfs. I struck it lucky and 1 out of 6 worked. I now have only 2 wiper post wash, and an adjustable wipe delay operated by the wiper switch. No messing about og modification required, just a bit of a pain changing the relay(under the dash). If you have trouble finding the threads i will dig out the details i have.

The BX wash bar thing looks really good!! - I'll definately try that one, but I'm still desperate to get it to wipe just twice for every wash.

Wantalotus - can you find the details? - I can't find the threads! - 2 wipes per wash sounds great, and the variable intermittent would be great. - I've got the recipe for making a wee circuit board to do the variable intermittent bit,b ut if you can do it from the relay, that sounds much better!

cheers

I think the Intermittent wipe, via relay option, was discussed on SELOC

I did it on my 111R. Take off the right access pannel and have a look under the centre spine where the standard washer jets are and you'll find a rubber pipe coming from the jets to a kind of junction box/connector. Pull the tube from the standard jets off the connector. Push a new tube into the area where the wwiper blade connects to the car and eventually it will pop out somewhere in the access bay. Just connect the new pipe to the original connector/junction box thing.

I'll try and take some pictures.

Change your wiper relay to one of these:

Beru: 0 900 301 082
Kostal: 377 955 531
Bosch: 0 986 335 058

User controlled variable intermittent wipe from 2 to 45 seconds, and only 2 wipes for a "quick squirt".

Great, and easy, mod for around £18

yep, thats the one. I had problems sourcing them, so went the scrapyard challenge way, mind you with big pockets it was not too bad just paying for a couple, they wanted a couple of quid.

How do you control the variable intermittent ?

all in the instructions you get with the relay.....very simple....flick the wipers once for a single wipe, then next time the screen need a wipe click the wiper stalk onto intermittent and the relay will remember the time interval between your two actions.

Simpler than it sounds in words.

The screen wash bit it does itself, short wash gives less wipes of the blade than a long wash does.

The Bosch part number is discontinued!!! - but after a bit of internet surfing I found the Volkswagen number which is 3B0955531.

my local VW garage wants £30 for it, though so I'm going to the scrappy - aparently you get them in pretty much every mark3 Golf (93-97) as well as the passat, vento and transporter from that time as well!

fingers crossed!

Hang on in there Alan!! It's well worth the effort. FYI I paid £18 for the relay from my local motor factor.....but that was the Bosch one, and about 9 months ago. Would have thought the other two would have been about the same price though.

When you change it over make sure you change the right relay! On the S2 it's the top one of the inboard group of two on the passengers side.
I found it easier to take the bottom one off as well to get better access.

I must find a decent car breaker, but if it helps i found this through google

www.parts4vws.com/catalog/product_detail.asp?PartNumber=3B0955531

i guess it shows what we're looking for!

according to the computer maintainence computer thing at the VW dealer, it is at the top right corner of the VW relay box.

I imagine this will work on an Astra also, same stalks etc. Off to my local motor factors in the morning, snow permitting.
