if they go the V8 Lexus(toyota) route would be a smart thing I guess...they already have a good partnership with Toyota(though a BMW would be amazing too) so Toyota/Lexus would indeed be the most logical thing...and thats a good thing, only hoping that Lotus does not fiddle to much with their ecu because otherwise the so reliable standard ecu's are not that reliable anymore?
Anyway I wish them much luck at Lotus with their "new" Esprit and remember Lexus also make nice engines, they even got a new V10... so all is possible.

Yep but I'm afraid there already fiddling with the lining's etc, the Ecu would have to be changed and apparently there getting around 850 Bhp in the states with the same engine

Sound's promising thou doesn't it ?

Sounds indeed very promising and I guess you are talking about their V10?
The standard ecu have to be changed then indeed but mostly when you change a bit overhere you also have to compensate overthere..and often there is not time or money anough to sort all niggles out like the big car manufactures can or do on standard cars...
That V10 is also in the LF-A lexus car? I believe with standard 500hp ofcorse 850 is somewhat more but in a "lightweight" Lotus Esprit car say max 1250kg a max 550hp( also keeps it a bit more reliable) will do very nice thank you
And Lotus please put a proper gearbox in it...not the ones that explode? in the older esprits under power...

Well they better not use that bloody old gearbox as it would be the end of Lotus, I've spent many a day up at Ntc car's watching poor old Norman take engines out then putting them back in again, the old V8 was a total nightmare sure a fabulous car but a real wasted opportunity as it had so many problems, I love them all the same

I think that's where the joke came from Lotus (Load's of trouble usually serious) they look so cool thou, me and Mrs boggy were driving back from Donnington and one came past us, we then followed it for around 30 miles Nice !

It doesn't matter so long as the engine is light. I would hope that the new Esprit is to Ferrari 430s/Gallardos/997s what the Elise and Exige are to M3s/RS3s and so on. I doubt anyone outside of the UK will in reality buy into a 60k Lotus over a 911 if the Esprit is trying to compete head-to-head with something overly complex weighing 1500 kilos. I just hope the thing is light. It should rev like crazy and the car should be really, really chuckable. I'd probably go with BMW and whatever they're going to put into the new M3 if it's light and compact enough - though some of these new M engines have a nasty habit of melting down.
