Hi I'm there too on Thursday with some new Mich Cups.

Tried then out for the first time at Brands hatch, once in the dry and then once in a thunderstorm !

Amazing grip in the dry, cured the understeer I had. I also found them good in the wet as long as there is no standing water.

Hope to see you Thursday !

You are not gonna put brand new tyres on for a track day are you??? If you can run your old tyres (even if crap) new tyres especially the type that you are talking about e.g. 8mm of tread, will be ruined on the track. Not to mention all the bad handling they will give you...

If I were you and had to buy new tyres in order to go to the track get some Michelin Pilot Cup Sports that are least track focused and with a brief heat - cycle or two on the journey up there should be good for a very fine blast.

Have fun.

Toyo R888 are supposed to be VERY good, and better than MPSCs in the wet. Not tried any though. Cheaper than MPSCs too.
