Whilst driving into work this morning after around half an hour I found myself sitting in the usual traffic. Feeling a bit hot I turned up the vent only to find to my horror yikes that smoke started to pour out of the middle two on the dash. This continued for approx 5 mins and then stopped. Whilst this was happening I also noticed that the water temp got upto 99 but dropped once the fans kicked in. Any ideas what could have caused this. Do you think it was a one off and nothing to worry about or do I call the garage a get her booked in???? HELP PLEASE.

what colour was the smoke? Might have been something falling on the exhaust and burning.

I had a similar thing in my car. Turned out to be a leaking heater matrix which was causing a fine mist of coolant to come out of the vents. If you direct the air to the screen does it mist up with a sort of oily film?

Check out the heater and associated pipes ASAP. Also remember that the car is loosing coolant so make sure it is kept topped up until you can fix it

Do you think it could be a loose pipe? With regard to the coolant i've been topping it up more than usual. Thanks for the advise

Its possible. On mine the heater matrix had split slightly along a seam. It leaked slightly for ages but did then suddenly let go in quite a big way. I would check it out before it got to this stage. Also the smell is horrible and you might get a leak into the interior which would stain carpets etc.

Just spoke to TVR Barnet and they said that it is VERY RARE for a heater matrix to go on a Tuscan and the fact that i'm loosing coolant is a worry so bring her in without delay yikes PLEASE NOT A 3RD REBUILD!!!!!!

I'll keep my fingers crossed. Still think it must be something to do with the heater otherwise you wouldn't have stuff coming out of the vents. Good luck!

It's a TVR. You dont seriously think it's a sealing system only breathing fresh outside air do you?

Good luck, I hope it's only a minor problem.

cheers
