White Van Man has set up a donations page to support the Yorkshire Air Ambulance through justgiving.com in thanks for their work getting Richard Hammond to hospital in double quick smooth running time.

If anyone would like to make a donation to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance Charity here is the link. Please make sure you tick the extra boxes to get your tax back off Gordon Brown to add to the donation. That way, Yorks Air Ambulance will get around £11.90 for every tenner you donate.

Please donate generously, the service depends totally on donations. Each life saving trip costs £340 and they do ten a day!

Update: Friday 6am

Wow! A Heeeoowge thankyou to everyone for your donations. In the space of 20 hours the total raised is now just around 30,000 pounds! Let's keep going. The Yorkshire Air Ambulance needs around 3600 pounds a day to operate, and I'm sure that if they feel our fundraising exceeds their current needs, they will distribute some of the money to the other air ambulance services around the country which always need our support.

As Alex white van man says on the donations page he started, this has exceeded all our expectations, and is a testament to the power of collective action through the internet made possible by the work of people like Ted who created pistonheads.com and the people who created the justgiving.com website.

We'd also like to credit the media webmasters and many contributors who have helped provide links to the donations page at www.justgiving.com/PHRichardHammond including the BBC and Sky News. Sky has devoted an entire page to the YAA donations appeal!

There is also an ebay auction which has been set up by Justin Smith, who is offering a fantastic track ride in his Ford RS200 and has pledged to donate the money to the cause. What better way to support the YAA and get a great days motorsport too!

Curently 12 bids and up to 400 pounds - Well done Justin!

Finally, lets focus on what this is really all about, which is to show our support and best wishes to Richard Hammond and his family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time.

Hang in there Richard we are all thinking of you and send you our best wishes for a speedy and full recovery.

Appeal even being shown on Sky News with a PHer telling about the reasons why PHer donate. Fended off the barbed question about "dangerous" motor sports very well!! TallBloke, was that you?

It was indeed. I got collared by the BBC, ITN, AP, SKY, The Sun, The Mail and old uncle Tom Cobbly when I took the PH massive's Get Well Soon card down for the Hamster.

Good for you Tallbloke. You managed to say what we all wanted to say.

How insensitive for them to attempt to use the accident as a platform for the lentilists.
