You have to care about the "height"...you may nudge the triangle-chassis-engine-mounts if the tubes go down to far.... if so, you could think about taking your solution and turn it that way, that the muffler goes upwards, hence you won´t need the bend behind the header....

Num 3 should just be reaward of engine mount, near side no a problem as head offset gives an extra 25mm. Have also moved 1 + 2 out a bit to balance the lengths not sure how important it is. Not much room between collector and engine / chasis so hope engine does not move too much on mounts.

Simon,

Good stuff! Who's gonna weld em up for you, or are you gonna do it yourself?

I picked up my exhaust last night, stock cast iron manifolds with 2.5" system running cats only... this is to get through emissions... headers and hiflow cats and 3" is phase 2.

I worked with my fabricator on the weekend to mock up the exhaust and tack together on the car, he took it back to his shop to fully weld. I bought mandrel bends from an Ebay shop in OZ and had em sent up here, those mandrel bent pipes are great...

I am going to tack them up then get them welded (got to look right) expect I will ceramic coat them to keep heat down. if all goes well will look into having them made, if anyone is intrested complete set including Cats should not be much more than Ultima ones.

Here's an update on the headers.
the parts came at lunch time

dry built one side up ready for tack welding

fitted to car

NS was easy no mods required, OS was a bitch had to mod some tube to miss engine mount but got there in the end. Now waiting for the Exaust boxes and cats to come expecting them thursday so when system fully tacked up will take it to someone who can weld!!

Very nice. Did I miss something or you spot welded for the moment and will go back on it and make some real welds?

As far as I am aware all of the LSx engines have the same mounting pattern/flange design. The different heads may have different size/shape openings though so you may want to check that to optimize airflow out.

The headers will fit LS1 LS2 , AFR heads but not LS7 as these have a slightly different port layout(so I am told).
could supply kit of bits or finished headers just need to amend drawing a bit first to clear OS engine mount better. Email me direct for more info.

This is where mine's at. We're gonna make an oval shaped tip to join these two together... actually it will be more like a rectangle with rounded ends. This is the temporary one to get through emissions, but I'd like to keep the final one low like this one also. This is running cats only....

Never quite sure what you include in this measurement eg to the collector point, the tubes are aprox 17" and all the same length within 0.25" would have made them longer but not the room Regards Simon
