Bought my 1998 996 C2 end of June with 46k miles on the clock. Since then no problems (touch wood) now got just under 51k on the clock!
Last service was at 43k, October 2005. All previous services done by OPC in Exeter.
Figured that it didn't make sense to throw money away just after I'd bought it on a service after it had only done 3-4k miles.
I've saved a few "pennies" with a view to carrying out some mods, (Short shift and PSE are the ones I was thinking in terms of), but it seems it would make sense to have it serviced beforehand to make sure, hopefully, that there are no problems which need sorting out!
I'm looking to go independent as I don't have an OPC warranty and in any case car will be 10 yrs old in just over a years time.
Autostrasse at Coggleshall were recommended by my friend, who's 993 they look after, and I took it to them to have the steering wheel swapped just after I bought the car. Phoned them and they did it next day with minimum fuss at reasonable price. I'm therefore inclined to use them for servicing, only problem is they are a little bit out in the sticks, (off the A12 between Chelmsford and Colchester).
I understand there's an independent in Hainault called HP Motorsports, who advertise in the Porsche mags, but don't know anything about them. It would probably be easier to drop the car off there on the way to work, as I work in London.
I'd prefer to go with someone through recommendation so just wondered if anyone has used
Autostrasse or HP Motorsports and could recommend either, or anyone else in the Essex area for that matter.
I'm Chelsford area BTW.
Cheers fellas!

YHM regarding HP. Porsche East London are one of the better OPCs, not likely to rip your eyes out. I gave them a cast iron opportunity to replace my brake discs (an old OPC favourite) and they turned me away.

I've known Alan and Ken for over 20 years (and Harvey for about 10). They are good guys and have never ripped me off,nor any of my friends. But I am aware of one PHer who has had less than satisfactory service from them.

I use Autostrasse, although it is a bit of a treck for me sometimes! They have always been reasonable and never (I would say) ripped me off!

They are on the Industrial estate just off the A120 (I think its the Middle turning into Coggeshall?) Not sure of the Road / Estate name off the top of my head!

Sorry guys been off line for a few days.

Autostrasse - Unit 31, Priors Way, Coggeshall Industrial Park, Coggeshall, Essex, CO6 1TN, it's on the right hand side of the estate (the porsches parked outside give it away).

I'm afraid the GT3 is looked after by Parr as they know the car very well and also set up the suspension for track work.

I lived less than 10 miles from Autostrasse and ended up taking my car to the OPC in Colchester and Parr
