Brunters has fallen the the nimbys. No more track days will be held there for the forseeable future.

Bollocks.

This country is really going to hell in a handcart.

I was wondering why I hadnt seen any Brunters trackdays for ages...

I've only been there the once, but in my view

a) it was quite isolated

b) it didnt seem to be a very noisy place anyway (if that makes sense)

Bentwaters (another airfield which is still used by small planes) stopped allowing trackdays a few years ago because the residence complained of the noise. Wasn't a massive loss, but was good fun non the less. Personally i'd love to wake up to the sound of a load of engines being given the beans

Mind you, Bruntingthorpe were well known for letting just about anyone on for 50 quid an hour with no real control over what was going on. I heard a few months ago that noise was becoming an issue there, so maybe if it had been managed better after that it wouldn't have been lost completely (if it has been).

The real issue, however, is that a few local numpties can have such a big influence as we have seen at so many other tracks - Castle Combe, Mondello, Elvington, etc. etc.

I'd assume that there must be some issue with testing the Vulcan for taxiing, take-offs, landings and if they have trackdays on the go it could scupper all the plans. With all those bits falling off and stuff leaking out it could really balls up a very delicate project.

I did enjoy the place last year sliding round the first right hander and jumping the chicane. Happy but clenching days!

Friend of mine was working at Bruntingthorpe for ( Big Thunder) they ran most of the track days, tested most cars for noise and were very strict, but the locals and the COUNCIL had other ideas. Shame because it was a good day out there and didn't cost the earth.

We listen to Europe and take notice of everything they say,yet they let cars run around Spa at 130db all year round.

We go to Donnington and can hardly hear each other speak every time a plane comes in to land.

If you sit in the stands at Paddock Hill Bend you are located in a triangle between the M25,M20 and M2 and a constant drone can be herd 24hours a day 7 days a week but what do the locals have to say about that(STUFF ALL BECAUSE THEY CANT THEY JUST PUT UP WITH IT)

However if a dozen or so cars blat it for 20 laps all hell breaks loose.

I drive one of these dam things all day and sit rather closer to the noise than the general public.

I have no hearing problems or "POST TRAUMATIC NOISE DISORDER"

Is it not about time that the Mamby Pamby brigade shut up and thought a bit about people who really suffer around the world with real problems dying of starvation/aids or cival wars etc.

Next thing and Ken will be congestion charging you by the lap.

It's about time the British public stopped winging and grow up,they also need to forget the word compensation!!!

No wonder the Aussies call us bloody Winging Pom's

Ah,Feeling so much better!!!

while we're on the subject of politics - i had a rather heated row with our friends at HMRC about reclaiming the duty we pay on Super Unleaded for track use. Our caterhams aren't road legal and as such, we shouldn't (IMO) need to pay the duty element of the fuel we put in the car - an amount totalling over £10K per annum.

of course, I was told to get lost. hypocrites :-(
