520SX... now with an MOT
Discussion
Well at long last the 520SX is legal and waiting for a tax disc to be on the road. It passed its MOT yesterday with no problem. Well not for me but certainly for the tester. The drive to and from the test station was the first real drive in anger and it has surpassed my wildest expectations.
"It's got a limited slip diff... "
"Yes. "
"I'll have to take it for a road test for the brakes then.... "
"What sort of power is it? "
"Detuned to around 500 bhp"
...and at this point the colour drained out of his face.
He came back as white as a sheet and a case of the nervous tremors.
In terms of performance, it makes the previous incarnation seem like a milk float. The torque delivery is simply smooth and constant. The engine spins up like a motor cycle irrespective of gear or revs. It is quite incredible. Gained another 1 lb of boost as well and I reckon it is doing the 500bhp/500 lbft torque judging from the data.
It is now a case of getting some driving under the belt and maybe some stickier road tyres

Nice one Steve looking forward to seeing the monster
No I won't be at Chatsworth. It will be at Silverstone in March for a couple of shake down track days. Sprinting at Lydden and Goodwood in the summer/autumn and pencilled in for the Wedgefest. Still planning on giving a torque (sorry talk ) on what has gone into the car at the Fest.
Will also be at Rockingham for the TVRCC 60th do dahs.

Gunmetal, invite Steve and his monster wedge to Blackpool a/d Rijn! Nice speach, brilliant wedge, need I say more! Organise a local sprint in the village (wasn't that your speciality?). In the process you then you know what to do to a wedge to beat all supercars in the Netherlands.
