Has the Nokia 6310i been bettered yet?
Discussion
Along with a number of people, I'm still running a Nokia 6310i as my main phone, mainly due to its solid reliability, outstanding battery life, good connectivity, and intuitive user interface.
I am finding its lack of proper internet connectivity (text-only WAP doesn't really count) and email to be an increasing pain though these days.
If I wanted to (finally) upgrade to a newer phone but wanted to keep all of the advantages and features of my 6310i whilst adding a graphical internet browser, email, and perhaps a camera, then what are my options?
My son has just got a Sony Ericsson W850i and I've got to say it looks pretty impressive - it even has a claimed battery life in excess of my 6310i. Although I'm not sure I want to have the same phone as him, particularly since he currently somewhat sneeringly looks down on me for having such an "old, crap, uncool phone" (his words). Not sure I could cope with the shame of buying the same one as him.

I too have 6310i - the difference is I've had a whole series of more upmarket phones (Sony Ericsson, Motorola, newer Nokias) and they all annoyed me in the end. I used to like the idea of a phone that took pics, acted as a PDA and did all the phone stuff too. In the end though I worked out that they generally end up being jacks of all trades and masters of none - and when it comes to using it as a phone it still has better clarity than any other phone I've used!
...and it's cool - in a sort of retro way... I think .... maybe

I went 6210...6310...6310i and have ended up with the 6233. A very very good phone - battery life is nowhere near as good, but as soon as you put a big colour screen on your phone you'll not be getting 6310i battery life (I used to take mine away for a week on business, use it solidly, and still not even bother taking a charger with me!).
Take a look at a 6233, I really do recommend them.

HTC TyTN .... Does it all ( just assume you'll be charging it regularly )
Is that a.k.a. the Orange SPV M3100? If so, the claimed 6 days standby / 8.75 hr talk doesn't sound too terrible - certainly better than the Nokia N95's risable 1 day / 2 hrs.

Watches thread with interest as I've also tried new phones and kept reverting back to the 6310i.
Me too
Although i ventured back further and bought (another) back-up phone, an Ericsson T28 world.
Battery died on both my V3688 and V3i on a night out so had to take the Ericsson (that i had been raving about since id bought it) only to find that to make a call involved a shed load of fiddling and phaffing and i didn’t even attempt to send a bloody txt.
I will be getting one of these shortly www.samsung.com/uk/products/mobilephones/mobilephones/sgh_x820tsaxeu.asp
Part of the reason I like the 6310i (I've still got it as a backup) is that its thin, but that just takes thin to silly levels (6.9mm ), it's got everything else you could want, and I personally find it much easier to use than any of the existing Nokias/SEs.

Hugh,
A friend of mine has one and i had a play with it the other day (the phone)
I must say..exceptionally thin and stylish. Wouldn’t mind one also.
Hmmm, okay.
Each to their own, of course, but a phone whose key feature / USP is its thickness (or lack of) doesn't strike me as an automatic contender to take the 6310i's crown.
Edit: Having said that, the feature list is pretty impressive.

I still have my 6310 from over 2 years ago, i run it along side a K800i.
Battery life seems about the same, but then again the battery in the Nokia has neveer been changed. Its better in some ways than my K800i.
