fantastc. You dont happen to have the 1989 WSPC race from Brands,do you? The one with the Aston AMR1 coming 4th?
Thank you for posting that,
Ick'x drive at the end of that race is still the greatest display of driving I have seen first hand, he was mesmeric as the race drew to a close and despite being hampered by having to hold the door closed with one hand for the last stint deservedly went on to be world champion.
I'm glad I was there and that I can witness it all over again

wow thanks! I've been looking for footage of that race for years
Brings back pleasant memories.
I was there on that day and in fact, to compete in the following year's Thundersport fledgling series, a friend of mine bought Pierre Chauvet's TOJ BMW which was a lovely car.
Also by conincidence mnay years later, I drove in British GT series in another car that featured in this video, Richard Clear's Porsche 930. Interesting car built around a factory strengthened shell by Charles Ivey and with a Le Mans class win to it's name, it was a super car.

I`m really enjoying the Group C era at the minute..I missed it all...and have only this year started to catch up with it all ...perhaps the twilight of the old hairy era of racing ..It must have been 10 times the thrill to be close to the action back then in any form...

Fantastic clip. Wish I had a parent that would have taken me to Brands when I was a kid, stunning stuff.
Bit wet, too - reminds me of the BTCC finals in 2001, standing under the grandstand scaffolding to dry and shelter from the rain, only the wind was fierce in there...and the championship came down to a mechanical failure for Muller. At least I was rooting for Plato, I guess.
Hope everyone got out of the South Bank OK

Why did Bell have tape over his visor before he got in the car?
People do that to use as a sun visor so the setting sun doesn't get in your eyes, but it doesn't look like a very sunny day!
Looking at that again...there was perhaps too much tape to be a normal sun strip...being wet & drizzly & waiting to change drivers, perhaps it would be removed in the car to keep the visor clean & dry ....?
A race to give you goosbumps indeed....

On a Group C theme, I was fortunate enough to be able to go to the 1000k races at Silverstone from '87 onwards. It's always been my favourite type of racing, whether it be Group C, GTs, WSC prototypes or whatever. Here's a few (poorly, I'm afraid) scanned photos I took at Silverstone '87. Click the photo for a better view.
How low was the (unprotected) pitwall back then?!
