Coming home this evening on the A30 from Basingstoke - on that lovely dual carriage stretch just before you come into Hook ....

.... outside lane - doing approximately 80mph with a Honda civic directly in front of me (a matter of feet) all the way up the hill .....

And as we get to the top - there's the BiB - 2 of them - parked up in the bushes with a fully marked range rover and a camera on a tripod.

I honestly expected to get pulled for dangerous driving/no consideration - but as I drove past (still a few feet behind the Honda) they were both peering into the camera.

Bugger. I'm expecting a nice little notice in the post in the next few weeks. The only thing is if they got my numberplate. I was that close to the Honda in front I'm not sure if they would have done.

Oh well - wait and see. Looks like I'll go for that Snooper now (and laserjammer too?)

And yes - I know - stable door, bolted ....

FCEK.

I've had a clean license for all of four months and now I've just got another NIP today. After an initial period of anger I actually don't give a shit anymore. I'm getting my camera-locating device, and I shall cease to support the Police in any way. In the last year my entire family have received points - even my 69 year old numpty mother - so they all feel that the Police regard them as criminals. Surprise my folks - they now regard the Police in the same manner as criminals do.

Kinky, don't know if you're looking to get flamed but..

If you were sitting a few feet behind then FFS!

ok - slight exageration. But I was closer than I normally would have been.

I was a tad hacked off as the inside lane was empty.

But looking at the angle of the road in relation to where he was I do think the Honda would have blocked any clear vision of me.

A few feet behind a car travelling at 80MPH, eau dear...

don't worry, I doubt they got your reg. Anyway, they only care about speeding, nothing else. Flame bait? yeah, so be it. But law enforcement is now only about nicking speeders, and sending juveniles to Kenya for theft.

Fingers crossed!

Guys, the first Wednesday in the month is a big bike meeting near Odiham (I live close by) and the Plod are everywhere with the dual carriage stretch being a favorite for either a camera or Plod in a plain wrapper. Good idea to be very careful. For the rest of the time it's an epic bit of road!!!!

Do you think though the Honda could have saved you? What speed WOULD you have been doing if it wasn't there.
Edited to say: If it was NSL then you should be OK at 80 mph???

Not quite true. I have been caught @ 77 in a 70 NSL Dual carrageway in north wales (what a surprise).

Hence my true hatred for the scamera vans and the cts therein!

"What is the threshold that you are told to put into the device where tickets are then issued."

Reply "10% plus 4mph, which takes it to 48mph for a ticket"

This was written by Madcop in an earlier thread, 70 mph = 81 mph

This is where I got my info from, it may differ though from force to force!

Seems as if the Honda driver should have been pulled for not moving over to the inside lane.

What a daft post and stupid thing to do. Tailgating at whatever speed is not big or cleaver but just stupid.

Shame they've buggered around with all those stupid single carriageway bits between Hook and Hartley Wintney!

I sympathise to an extent, but if your entire family now hates the police then they obviously have little or no understanding of who actually makes 'LAW' in this country...Was your "69 year old numpty mum" NOT speeding then?

I would imagine Yertis and his family hold the government in equal contempt to the senior police officers who decide which laws (including the stupid ones) they choose to enforce to the letter.
