Brabus C-Class

Brabus have unveiled their 'Bullit' V12 version of the C-Class

Brabus have dropped their tuned 6.3 litre Biturbo V12 into the new C-Class, with results that overshadow even the new C63 AMG. The monster engine produces 730bhp and 974lb ft of torque- which has to be electronically limited to 811lb ft for the transmission's sake.

These extravagant figures mean that the car does 0-62mph in 3.9 seconds, 0-186mph in 24.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 224mph. This absurd performance is filtered through a special five-speed automatic gearbox and a locking rear differential. Huge 12-piston caliper 380mm front brakes slow it down. The official debut of the car at the Frankfurt Motor Show is bound to turn some heads.

According to the MSN Cars article in the below link, they reckon it will be around 350,000 Euros!

Strange old world isn't it? The Zonda R-as on other thread- producing a mere 20bhp more (quote) concedes nothing to road use. I'd be surprised if the torque of the Zonda is close to this Brabus.

If only manufacturers could apply themselves to reliability as much as the power equation. OK I know the two are slightly contradictory etc etc...

Is it a bit odd that with all the power, brakesm bodykit etc that it is an auto? I know they can't make decent mauals but surely a car needs to be a manual if it is (mad) sports model?

Am I the only one that thinks it's a rather pointless waste to shoehorn an engine into a car only to artificially hamper the output to stop bits breaking?

I guess I am.....

What a monster. Just stopped wanting the new RS6! Bet it has trouble getting all that power down below 100 . 100-150 time is probably quite impressive though (officer).

Love it. Want one.

I think the issue with most of the AMG Mercs is that they couldn't find a manual box strong enough to take the torque and still be civilised.

I bet Brabus would drop a race sequential dog-box in it if you payed them some more wink

I would guess that (the real) peak torque and peak power don't coincide, so you're only taking a chunk out of the middle of the power curve, not the top. And with an auto box and THAT engine, I'd defy anyone to notice the missing ponies...

I'm not going into the whole debate on the RS6 thread again, but is there ANY point behind these cars? I reckon the C55AMG will be as quick / virtually as quick in most real-world situations, and with a lighter nose will probably handle better too...
