Have they relented on BlueTooth headsets? Last I heard the only way to legally use a mobile phone in a car under the new legislation is with a proper (and expensive) full hands-free car kit, even though with BlueTooth you can put your phone in the glovebox or even the boot and use it perfectly safely via the headset.
Its one less thing to worry about while balncing a cup of coffee between your legs, while tuning the radio in to Five Live, while typing figures into your palm top while reading the map and the Financial Times, while also winking at the loverly lady in the beemer in the outside lane.

I nearly got smashed by a woman on the phone last night. Veered out of her lane without indicating and forced me to take evasive action. If there'd been a car to my right I'd have had nowhere to go.
EVEN IF YOU'RE ON THE PHONE, WOULD IT REALLY HURT TO OPEN YOUR EYES!?!?!?!?!?!?!
I had a similar experience on the bike the other day, at the next set of lights the twat was still on the phone, so i tap lightly :honest: on his window and he carries on talking, eyes fixed ahead. So I get a little louder (horn and fist), and the 3 bikes at the front of the queue notice and join in
. Don't think his call was desperately productive for a bit
. Tempted to carry a hammer clipped to my tank so I can take the phone off the silly fcukers..

Someone i knew used to carry metallic ball bearings in his roadbike jersey (those wierd bright yellow ones with pockets on the back). If he got severely cut up he would shower a load of ball bearings through the pasenger window!
I am assuming he would check for babies/kids etc first.... Perhaps a bit vigilante, particularly when numpty car driver probably didn't even see him in the first place so therefore would probably think it was an unprovokes attack... Mildly amusing in hindsight though.....
What about those built-in hands-free kits with the microphone wire running up the inside of tha A-pillar and the sound relayed through the speakers? Or are they next going to tell us that having a conversation in a car or listening to music is a 6-point offence?
God, I HATE this statistic-driven 'just in case someone sues/dies' culture we've got ourselves stuck in.

Some people can't drive a car WITHOUT using the phone.
Good to the Ban on phones without hands free if you ask me.
What about smoking? (Opens up a completely new avenue of debate...)
P.S. yes I am a non smoker and hate seeing people gripping the wheel between thumb and little finger and trying to turn the steering wheel...
