BMW X6 Nearing Completion

X6 snapped tackling the 'Ring

It’s supposed to be the world’s first Sports Activity Coupe, but these pictures show the main activity BMW expect the X6 to be doing is going rather quickly.

The much anticipated X6 SUV was originally shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show, where details were still vague.

However it seems the car, or should I say Coupe-Crossover or perhaps SAV, is nearing completion.

Underneath the tape of the cars seen lapping the Nürburgring the bodywork looks production ready.

Although it still sits quite high the X6 will handle more like a sports car than an SUV thanks to its new all-wheel drive system.

The system is designed to keep the car in neutral balance when cornering by adjusting the power between the axles.

The coupe styling is being seen as a first for the market but don’t expect it to be the last, with other manufacturers likely to be scrambling to bring out their own coupe-crossover SUV car thingy.

What a piece of shit. Who the hell would want the mix between an X5 and a Z4 coupe/3 series coupe.

Looks kinda nice.

Woukdnt buy one though. X6... It's going to be about 50k isnt it? This is something Suzuki or Kia would think up and sell for £16k.

Who the hell is going to buy it though?

Will probably be similar to something like the S-line Q7's in that the shape is a bit more like a car then a proper SUV.

Doesn't look that good at the minute but I would mind a Q7!

I don't see the point in it? A 'fastback' X5. However BMW will market it, so peeps will buy, esp. in USA.

Not for me.

Probably quite a few people. Companies like BMW dont invest millions in developing new cars if there isnt a market for them.

I agree though it does look like a piece of sh1t biggrin

Probably someone with a Neo-Georgian house with huge electric gates and pillars by the front door. Oh, and a golden peeing kiddy fountain in the huge expanse of gravel driveway.

That sort of person!

Take an X5 (more or less)
Make it less practical
Up the price by 20K
Increment the version number.
Who in their right mind would buy it?

I'm sure it'll sell like hot cakes.

Probably the the most pointless car ever to be produced!
If you want a sports car buy a sports car, if you want an SUV buy an SUV. This turd on wheels won´t be able to do what either of these two types of car can properly.
But referring to other threads, I guess if you stick a badge on it it will sell but I guarantee if this was a Kia or Hyundai or some other make no one would buy it.

Id buy one......if I still lived in Australia and had our farm and the great roads around it that weren't the smoothest.

In the UK...pointless, but then I don;t think we are their target audience (apart from said large estate owners with peeing gold statues)

Plenty of tossers and school-run mums will buy this pile of ordure.

They're the same witless bunch that presently stump up for the other oversized, overweight, overpriced heaps of automotive excrement clogging the UK.

Why can't people need or buy large cars? If you've got a dog and a couple of kids you might require a bit more space. Especially if you have baby seats in the back. If you're a tall driver and you need to put baby seats behind you you'll require a large car.

It's not a practical car though is it. I exect it will be much like a Range Rover sport. They're selling well aren't they?

From what I've seen 4x4s are rarely bought for purely practical reasons. The people I know who drive them would all be better off with a people carrier. In most cases they bought 4x4s because they're fashionable and I suspect that they wont replace them with 4x4s because they're starting to become unfashionable with the middle classes now.

But who buys any kind of car for purely practical reasons? If we did, we'd all be driving small hatchbacks or MPVs, probably made by Kia.

I will never buy a 4x4 and I don't let SUVs out in front of me because I like to be able to see where I'm going but if people want to buy them that's their choice.
