Next Friday.

Yeah I'm really looking forward to it, but I'm gonna throw it up on a really high shelf that I can't reach and not attempt to play it until I've played through all the other games that I've got hanging around at the moment. Have some time booked off just before Christmas so I'll play it then.

Same here! I'm a big fan of Bioware's previous games - Baldur's Gate et al and SW:KOTOR, as well as being a sci-fi aficionado, so ME promises big things.....

I've got a queue of half-played games, tossed aside when something else shiny and new came out..... FM2, H3, PGR4, Orange Box and now most recently COD4. The last thing I need is to add to the pile before I've finished with some of the others!

I like the idea of a good old-fashioned Sci-Fi RPG. I miss them and adventure games too.

I may have to look into this. scratchchin

(Although I haven't even got round to playing Halo 3 yet, despite being a fan of the previous two - I don't seem to have time for consoles these days frown)

I know what you mean Jon. In my case it's call a '2 year old' :-)

Didn't see this thread hanging around when i was posting up my first impressions and im b*ggered if i'm typing it all again smile

Excellent deep storyline and graphics, slightly fustrating AI and vehicle controls, not to mention iffy popups and low framerate in places but on the whole a very good game that seems to get better the more you learn about it. And breathe.

Im not sure whether to buy this game. I dont really like many of RPG games that Ive tried. Although I did enjoy Oblivion. Its RPG menu based combat that doesnt apeal to me. Ill give it a try in a shop I reckon, once Ive finished assasins creed and made genral in COD4! ;-)

X-Box mag mentioned something about dodgy saves and the amount of saves only being 10.

Is anyone finding trouble with this?

Cheers all.

Not at all, im using 1 save at the moment. The combat system takes a while to adapt to but it is quite fun when you realise you have to think your way through them rather than jump right in guns blazing. One minor gripe is the automatic save points aren't numerous enough, normally you land on a new planet and you get an auto save, but you can enter several facilities or areas without another save being done for a few hours and when you die you'll be kicking yourself for not saving it by hand.

Git this Friday and am having a hard time getting into it. I've just got my ship now though so am hoping that things pick up a bit from here.

Disappointed by the slowdown and popups though. And I'm getting 'unreadable disc' errors a hell of a lot. Reading a bunch of forums it seems I'm not the only one.

I've had 1 freeze crash and 2 "unreadable discs". Apparently they started coding it AGES ago and back then the policy was not to allow cacheing of game data to th Xbox HDD... so its basically streaming everything from the DVD constantly. MS changed the policy but it was too late (or too expensive) for Bioware to start cacheing stuff. rolleyes

Still, it's bloody fantastic and I am totally absorbed in it. Love the mix of driving, fighting and chatting.

top tip - press the right stick when in "turret mode" in the Mako and you have 2 levels of zoom, making the tank into a wicked sniper. Not in the manual for some dumb reason...

Got to one of the endings already... Be WARNED.. keep older saves there is a "point of no return" event in the main plot, very similiar to oblivion (with the opening of gates, which make the game more annoying and makes you wish you hadn't), but much worse in the fact you are can no longer perform side-quests, permanently. Not had any crashes but yeah it thrashes the dvd a lot and there are random pauses as it seems not quite fast enough at times to load the textures and stuff in. A very good game though.

Sounds good.

Is the FPS element to the same standard as Halo 3?
