Maybe its just me but I am getting a little tired of the constant references to the “w*nkers that drive BMW’s” comments that seem to crop up with alarming regularity. I was reading PH during my lunch hour and saw three such comments in only an hour.

I don’t do a huge amount of miles in a year but the lack of driving standards displayed but road users is by no means exclusive to BMW drivers.

If a BMW driver has cut you up, not used their indicator, hogs the outside lane etc. fine have a rant but don’t generalise that all drivers fall into the same category.

Yeah, strange one that... even Jeremy Clarkston gives BMW drivers a lot of abuse.

I see t055er5 in all kinds of cars, never really noticed any great concentration of BMW drivers.

Good cars if you ask me.

Don't have a problem with Be em drivers on the whole, BUT, Mercedes drivers!!!! AAAAaaargh.......
I was passing a slower moving car on the M5 the other week (in the third lane) when a low flying jet (c class) fighter zoomed up my chuff and started flashing for me to get out of his way.
I pulled over at the earliest convienence at which point the C class shot off then promptly cut in front of me causing me to brake!! On a virtually deserted motorway??? After flashing him and giving him the coffee grinder, he then slammed on his brakes in an effort to make me crash!!! WTF. I just slowed down let him get on with it and then he dissapeared off into the distance when he got bored and realised my little car didn't have the power to overtake him. What a total to@@er.

I get a bit fed up of being told what a w**ker I am. I'm the same person when I drive a BMW as when I drive anything else.

I use my indicators properly, cos I quite like to avoid people rear-ending me, which would be (more than) quite likely if I didn't ever indicate.

We all get it.

BMWs - no idicators and general bad manners
Audis - push you off your lane
4x4/SUV - SRM's
Minis - idiots for buying a hideous piece of machinery and all should be blown up/shot Vice City styleee
Vectras - salesmen see Audi
VW's - "my car is better than yours so should be infront."
Merc - "I'm rich so move out of my way"
SMART - why...?
TVR - breaks (look at the bashing they have had over the past 24 hours)
Porker - dont get me started.
Horses - nice creatures who should be allowed wherever they want to go

Seee....no matter the make of vehicle you drive there will always be a small/medium group who are complete idiots and spoil it for the rest.

Agreed, it's really dull. I don't want to read this sort of crap on PistonHeads.

Every car has stereotypes - we could make fun of them all but I don't think it's why this forum is here.

Claire.. you forgot me..

Saxo's.. Brain-dead skinny runts that can't drive, wear caps on backwards, have neon washer jets, and always drive with a Scrunch Permed Bottle Blonde Girlfriend in passenger seat..

Matt.

I think a lot of people just jump on the 'Let's have a pop at BMW drivers bandwagon' as soon as they see one instance of poor driving.

There does seem to be a particular stigma about M3 drivers. At PistonFest I remember someone's comments clearly: "You know I really didn't like the new M3 until I seen yours, I also thought the drivers were total ws but it's all just a stigma that the badge carries about. By the way it's a much nicer car than I thought. Awesome in fact."

It's just jealousy!

Especially when they see someone in a car in which they can do 30,000 miles a year in complete comfort without having to worry about having enough breakdown cover.

It's usually not bad driving by BMW drivers (except those in the common 3 series), but drivers in general and when they come to relate the tale of a bad driver, they link the jealousy to the bad driving and ....

Yeah they keep telling me that but therein lies a problem...

I really dont like cars. I am a biker. I would pick a nice bike over any BMW or luxery car ANY day. I cannot be jealous over somthing that I dont like :|

The minority of good BMW drivers image are ruined by a majority of crap ones, hence the stereotype.

I drive a repmobile so you can imagine what comes my way...

Come on guys - lighten up. PH is here precisely so we can have a go at drivers of marques that we personally don't drive. And so long as its good natured banter and bit of poking of fun then its a top laugh.

Personal insults and hounding on the forum or by mail are, by contrast, not to be tolerated...and Ted can and does take action.

So:

Nyah nyah all your cars are crap except mine which is brilliant of course. None of you can drive, except me, because I'm totally perfect in every way.
