I have a problem with my key fob which i think is Fox alarm system.
The battery went flat in my key fob i have now replaced it with a new battery but I cant lock the car or disable the immobilser,to start it.
The car is at present unlocked with the immobilser on.
Has anyone else had this problem ?
Is there an easy fix?

No experience of this system but you could disconnect the earth off the battery for 30 seconds, reconnect and hope that resets the system. If not Carl Baker's probably your next port of call.

As FlipFlop said, you can disconnect the battery for 30 secs, reconnect it and then hold down the button on the keyfob for 5-10 seconds (can't remember exactly how long). The car should acknowledge the alarm-fob connection and flash the indicators.

Hope you get it sorted!

Thanks for the replies
I disconnected the battery and reconnected plus pressed the key fob for a few seconds.
The immobilser is now off and I can start and drive the Griff BUT The key fob still will not operate the central locking and the immobilser is permanently off(does not reset the immobilser ater 30secs as it used to)
So I am am half way there any other ideas?

....Stock answer, then replace it with a £400 model!

Get the model number of the alarm and then replace the black box with a new/old model off ebay.

Mike,
I don't think thats the stock answer from Carl, he's one of the most honest people you'll ever meet. If it is repairable I'm sure he'd have said so. I've spoke to him on many occasion and he's always offered help with no mention of sending me an invoice - much appreciated.

I've only had most recent dealings with Carl. I had small concern to leave a voice message on his mobile today. Only a simple problem that can wait. Not an hour ago Carl called me from the Canaries to offer help. He'd landed just an hour earlier. Big up!

Spoken with Carl three times for help, got it without question, once whilst he was on his Honeymoon! Recently got him to replace Siren and Fobs and it was cheaper than he orginally said.

Top chap.

Anyone else think that the battery/alarm answers above shouldn't be posted on a public forum?

Sounds like the Foxguard remote has lost sync, does not mean the alarm unit has had it.

First thing carl said was the remote may be out of sync, went through the procedure to to get it back in sync but no difference.
The reason he said the alarm was dead was because when I disconnected the battery and then connected again the alarm did not arm itself in immobilser mode.

Not sure what sync procedure you used but if you did it correctly then fair enough. I assume you did it by using the programming button down the hole etc, if you did then fair enough.
Obviously if you had more than one remote then you could rule out a faulty remote.

The arming itself bit doesn't mean much, they did that sometimes when they got "confused".

Oh well, at least you had a go smile

The only syn procedure I did was for the remote, I have lost the spare.
Down which hole is there a programming button ? and what do I have to do.
If I could unconfuse my alarm system it would save me £450 which is what I was quoted for a new one!
cheers

The programming button is on the alarm module itself, which is under the dash top. You need access to the module to resync a remote that has gone "missing". If you have not used the programming button then you haven't done it correctly.

If you fancy having a go at it, PM me your addy and I will mail instructions to you smile
