007 Jinx Rumour After 3rd Smash

Week of accidents ends with stuntman in serious condition

It all started with the destruction of an Aston DBS, but after a week of mysterious happenings on the set of the new James Bond movie insiders are starting to worry the film is jinxed.

Today it emerged that a stuntman is now fighting for his life after a third car smash on the set of action film Quantum of Solace near Italy’s Lake Garda.

Stunt driver Aris Comninos, 40, had to be cut free from an Alfa Romeo 159 and airlifted to hospital with head injuries.

The incident occurred when another Alfa, carrying two dummies, was steered by remote control into a truck.

But it all went wrong when the car bounced off a rock and into the stuntmen’s car – pushing it though a wall and almost off a cliff.

Another stuntman was slightly injured after the incident.

In a second incident on Monday, during the shooting of a car chase, a stuntman was injured.

The first incident happened early on Saturday when Jonathan Dunn Fraser, an employee of Aston Martin, cheated death while delivering the DBS to the set.

As he was driving down a winding road the car mysteriously skidded off the road, went through a guardrail and into a lake.

Mr Dunn Fraser said: ‘I was at the wheel and I remember the road was wet. I wasn’t going fast. Suddenly the car went off the road. Then I sank into very cold water.’

A week ago there was another calamity when a man on a bicycle who stopped at the set to watch filming had a heart attack and died.

After Saturday's freak accident the DBS had to be recovered

Filming these Bond flicks sounds like nasty work- back in the 60's a stuntman lost his legs to a helicopter rotor blade! Bet health and safety would have a field day with that now.

thats what happens when there is unessasary destruction of nice cars.

you see it too often in films, top end cars being blown up or crashed, usually just for the sake of it, no actual use to the plot.

the cars are fighting back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really hope your not saying that’s a bad thing? How boring would a Bond film be if nothing got blown up?

true but that doesnt quite explain the old man having a heart attack!?
maybe the exciting of seeing james bond being filmed live was the icing on the cake

i dont mind the odd rep mobile being launched into a lake or somthing along thoses lines, but astons, lambo's and ferrari's just seems wrong to me.

i find most of the best chase and crash scenes involve lame cars anyway, bourne films had mini and lada taxi thing,

Italian job - mini's

and all the other films i cant/choose not to remember.

I see your point and I agree, one of the best chase sequences I've seen was in Ronin, in crappy beat up old french cars.

but I'd just like to say: Italian Job... remind me again what happens each time someone goes crusing through the alps in a flashy sports car

A red blooded male is given an Aston Martin and not just any Aston Martin, but the most powerful one they currently produce and an Italian mountain road. What the hell is mysterious about him losing the back end? smile
