I've been offered a WH warranty that covers £1000 per claim, does anyone know if they will cover an R reg cerbie for a larger amount, say £2k or even up to £5k? Seems to me that a £1k limit is gonna look lame when your engine starts pi$$ing oil!

W.H. will only pay £23.00 per hr labour
? were do they get that from (backstreets of Bombay)
MOST traders/dealers sell this warranty because of the commisions involved.
Been told R.A.C. better.

it is a 1000 limit on cars over 3 yrs old. I believe.
Good for things like starter motors but not worth paying for though. In my view.

In Spring 2002 WH covered a full engine rebuild and in summer 2002 a new gearbox on my four and a half year old Cerbera 4.5. They set the claim limit on my car to £1,000 at 5 years old in January this year.

I renewed with limited cover on that basis last January, fortunately, because another replacement gearbox went in last June courtesy of WH. It would appear 5th gear can be weak.

I am sure much is to do with the relationship you have with the dealer you use. They can fight your corner or not.

Is it possible to buy a cerbera privately, then pitch up at a TVR delaer or specialist and ask them to organise a warranty on it - that or buy private and get WH to extend an exisiting warranty?

Many questions!

I believe you can purchase a warranty yourself - from Warranty Holdings or even someone like the AA (Who have several 'levels' of warranty).

I was of the understanding that the WH is now only available via a dealer AFTER they have inspected your car?

Personally, I don't have one, although if I had a newer model it would be worth it (in my view)

TVR Dealers can sell you warranties. Dont think you need an inspection. It is all a minefield though!

just spoke to the AA about providing a warranty as I'm looking to guard against reliability the best I can. Their cover is actually really quite good and covers almost everything in the car (apart from wear and tear of course) Only problem is they wont supply a warranty on any TVR car. NICE!!!! Trying RAC this afternoon.

All due respect, but can you blame them. You want a guarantee that the most unreliable car possibly on the planet is going to give you reliable service or someone else picks up the bill.

From what warranty holdings told me they have always made a loss on TVR's and will soon refuse TVRs or put them in a seperate category of poor risk. Even TVR don't give a half decent warranty with their 'NEW' cars.

Poor old warranty subsidise TVR's on the back of fiesta's and micra's currently. But it won't last.

I want TVR to understand that their only base is the british car enthusiast, and they should encourage that by not being so damm stingy with their information.

Rant over, now going for esspresso, as I'm not quite hyper enough yet.

What ? Doesnt matter if you buy it through a dealer or not? I bought a WH warranty and the dealer and indie guys dealt with it on my behalf when it came to claims.

Many people have said WH will not sell you one direct - has to go through dealer, hence my question

Warrany Direct dont cover TVR's, neither to the RAC. Warranty Holdings don't seem to have a web site. Not one that I can find anyway. DOes anyone know if TVR dealer warranties are ALL Warranty Holdings? If they are do they travel with the car when sold or stay with the dealer??? ie If you bought a car from a London dealer (with a warranty) and took it to Scotland could you pitch up at the Scottish dealers and produce your warranty and have work carried out?? Cheers

You can buy a warranty from WH themselves. I did. Just phone them up, you don't need to go through a dealer.

Try the above link they supply Warranty Holdings policies but the Gold cover which is basically the same as the TVR Warranty (i think) claim limit can be the purchase price of the car, Mot cover etc and the prices are very good.

WH refused tio sell me a waranty direct BUT they would extend the warranty on the car with them or my local dealer Mole Valley said they'd get me one.

The cost through Mole Valley was MUCH MUCH higher than extending direct with WH. So I extended with WH.

Its fustrating and downright annoying but if the car you buy hasn't got a WH warranty already you are looking at extra cost via the dealer. Once teh warranty is in force. You can basically go anywhere to have the Car repaired as long WH approve the cost. They will refuse to pay TVR dealer labour rates and I think elsewhare in the is thread it mentions £23 per hour is all they'll pay which frankly is a joke in this day and age! They are also notorious for trying to wriggle out of claims.. but seemingly the only company who will cover TVR's

so as per the TVR handbook..... bend over and keep the vaseline handy!
