I always saw an invisible 'a', so pronounced it Hartage (Hart-ij). Now I can't stop doing it.

Perhaps this is what you mean, but the "Man" is pretty close to "man", and the "they" is pronounced like "Thai".

Aye, tis indeed 'Hart-Guh'. I found this out one day, having had enough of not knowing, by going to the Hart - G stand at a BMW show no less, where upon I asked the assistant how it was pronounced.

"Ahem, excuse me..... how do you pronounce..?" I said. She told me it was Heart 'G' I believed her. It turned out that she was one of Herr HartG's daughters .

This is of course dependent on my hearing correctly at the time......
