Car Club Offering TVR Griff

New car club has a Griffith 500 on its fleet

Driving Spirit's TVR Griffith 500
Driving Spirit's TVR Griffith 500
A new car club is offering members the opportunity to hire out a TVR Griffith 500 among other supercars. ‘Driving Spirit’ has a similar format to other car clubs but has a blend of  classic, performance and prestige cars.

The vehicles are from the 1960’s right up to the present day with every decade in between covered. The club works on a points system with prices staring from just over £3500 to just under £5000 with no points deducted for miles driven. On average you can expect between 20 and 75 driving days per year.

Among the cars available are the Griff 500, a Porsche 996 Turbo, two Ferraris, an original Mini Cooper S and an Aston Martin Vantage. If you've never been behind the wheel of a TVR it may be worth checking out. Visit the website here

When you drive a Griff, all traffic is behind you.

And I love this quote:

"Among the metal available is the Griff 500"

my mates in one of these clubs and it costs more than that a year so sounds quite reasonable.

one word of warning though he had a gallardo which turned up a day late and the wrong colour on the back of a trailer, it wouldnt go in reverse and after less than 3 miles it broke totally, rang the company they sent a trailer to pick it up and now are trying to charge him 6k for a new gear box blaming him for the problem. ouch !

court case pending !

be carefull guys.

ps was gutted i never got a ride in it frown had one in his 360 and it was amazing

"A 50% insurance excess waiver fee of £250 is recommended to reduce the insurance excess"

Very good, but it's still too scary for a pleb like me. How about a fee to reduce the excess to something sensible like £250? Then I'm interested.

Surely after it was delivered, and found out it wouldn't go in reverse, he should of called them straight away, rather than trying to drive it?

I guess the solution is to take out insurance yourself for the excess.

Just to introduce myself I work for Driving Spirit

Tony*T3 : There is AA cover with all the cars but this should not be necessary as they are all maintained to the highest standard.

Midcuk : It sounds as your friend had a very unfortunate experience with the club he choose. We value our customers extremely highly and are very surprised others do not.

MithT: Unfortunately the excess is not set by us but our insurer. We have done everything we can to get it as low as possible. As long as you drive sensibly then there should not be a problem and of course if there was an accident which was clearly not your fault the guilty drivers insurance would pay out to us.

Stuart-b : We are a new company but have substantial backing we would invite anyone interested to come and view our fleet and premises for themselves.

Any questions do not hesitate to contact me

Your basic annual fee will allow you to take the Griff out for 8 weekends at a mere £462.50 per weekend...

At the summer rate yes. 14 if you used your points in the winter for those rare clear, crisp, cold days we sometimes get.
A weekend is also from 2PM Friday until 10.30Am Monday.

If you look at the prices of some hire companies these don't look all that bad. A friend of mine recently hired a 360 Spider and his excess was £3500 yikes

As an aside I have to say I wasn't that impressed it didn't leave the Griff eating dust when we had a couple of 'spirited runs'. I didn't enjoy the sound too rattly and top end for me. Cornered like it was on rails but didn't leave me with the desire to buy one.

His mate who went in both the Ferrari and the Griff was impressed by the performance of my car and of course the fact that mine stayed while the 360 went back on a trailer after the weekend smile

Which is basically why I sold my own TVR... I only used it when the weather was fine, had instant access to it in the garage, but still only took it out a handfull of times last year - the fine weekends and crisp winter days were too few and far between!

I do like the look of your Mk 2 though....

Without wishing sound defensive to this stereotypical view of TVR - its a good choice and one thats likely to raise many eyebrows to those who use it on the fleet - I may be biased, but based on experience of actually owning a TVR over 3 years, it has never failed or let me down, it is handmade, v quick, handles, and sounds gorgeous & looks great IMO - what more can you ask for in a sports car. I also do sprints & hillclimbs & many trackdays - so i know what makes a good all round car. I don't have a medallion and only a slightly hairy chest, & still in my 30's.

My AA membership has been well used for the array of Honda/BMW/VW I have owned/used over the years but never the Trevor !!!!!!!

Well done Driving Spirit - i hope it re-enforces the marque perceptions on the fleet. Tony you should try owning one.........

I'm experiencing the reverse... put 1,400 miles on my Chim since I got it sorted, registered and on the road two and a half months ago... and it would be more if I weren't skintwink ... it's turned out such an all round lovely and driveable car, far beyond what I was lead to believe based on feedback from here (mainly).

Here Here.

This TVR bashing is so boring now, it's bordering on pathetic.

I'd be interested to see which car Tony*T3 has. He's declined to offer the info in his profile.

I wonder why ? scratchchin

Come on Tony, enlighten us with the info of the ultra, impossible to break down car that you own....

So did I when I first got mine, but the novelty wears off after five years...
