clap

My sick Griff 500 was in need of a return to V8 developments in Lincolnshire

I have comprehensive cover form AA including Home start and relay etc...

I have just had the car put on a low loader from home (west sussex) and transported up to Lincs....

Great service (although they did grumble a bit about the distance)....

I was quoted £290 by a specialist car transporting company so good old AA!

I sometimes resent the way the AA creep the cost of my membership up year on year (I keep disputing their excuse of "inflation" by saying "ok, I don't wish to pay you £129 this year and would like to annul my membership'. I then ask about becoming a new member for their advertised home start and roadside fee of £79).

But, three years ago, my TVR's clutch master cylinder suddenly failed as I arrived at work- an industrial complex with a veeeery dodgy council estate next to it. There was no way I was going to leave the car parked there overnight therefore..

The AA were brilliant. That evening, they collected the car with a low-loader, kept it in a secure compound overnight and delivered it to my preferred indie at 8am the following morning. Earlier, I bought the necessary parts on-line and they were delivered to the garage at the same time the Chimaera was.

I was off and running later that day- with no additional AA cost to me. Over the years, I've used them more than they've used me.

I had a problem with my fuel pump a few weeks ago. Called out the RAC. Guy was friendly, knowledgeable and v helpful. He was a biker and spent 20 mins having a chinwag with my Dad (also a biker) about the merits of Ducatis.

Wish I could say the same, over 6 hours from first promised time to arriving meaning garage not able to finish the work 'til Monday now. At least they admitted their fault and offered a £50 sweetener.
