Hi folks,

Has anyone used these products on their TVR? Clay bar, paint cleanser and carnauba wax for £39 sounds like a bargain. I'd like to get my Tuscan looking perfect - it's not bad at the moment but there are a few fine scratches and marks from bird poo that I need to get off.

Currently I'm using either Mer or the Nano-tech speed wax stuff. The Mer gives a great finish but I'm fed up of it leaving marks and chalk around the armourfend which are difficult to get out.

Cheers!

I've not heard of these kits before, so without something to go by, i'd probably avoid.

If you want some good guidance, get yourself over to www.detailingworld.com

If you have a halfords store locally, you could do a lot worse than Autoglym Super Resin Polish, the Meguiars Clay Kit and the Autoglym EGP or Wax.

If the scratches need something a bit more agressive to remove them, then Meguiars Scratch X is a decent hand applied product.

Autoglym Super Resin Polish
Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection
Meguairs Clay Kit (includes Clay bar and Quick Detailer)
Meguiars Scratch X

That lot will be about the same price as the kit you've linked (£40)

Justin, I hang about on Detailing World, Autopia quite a bit and have never heard of this product line. Must admit, I'd give it a wide berth. For £40 you can get some decent products.

Cheers for the advice guys. I'll pay a visit to Halfords on the weekend and see what they've got.. will probably try and get the items TheWave mentioned.

So from what I've gathered, best way to clean the car in this order...

1) Wash as normal and dry.
2) Use the clay bar to remove ground in dirt, water marks and bird lime.
3) Use the Scratch X to work on scratches and swirls.
4) Carnauba wax or similar, leave for 30 mins or so and buff off.
5) Autoglym extra gloss protection.

Better set aside a whole day for all this then! smile

If you're using Autoglym EGP, I wouldn't bother with a wax (Step 4), EGP is a Sealant, and does the same job as a wax. Swap step 4 for Autoglym Super Resin Polish.

I'd also try using the SRP before Scratch X, as that may well remove the scratches if they're not too bad. Best to try using the least agressive product first.

A whole day should do it laugh

Sounds good! I've heard good things about the Bilt Hamber products so might try the clay bar and auto-balm from them too.

Does anyone know if all these products can be used on Armourfend? Or put it another way, what shouldn't I use on Armourfend?

Cheers!

If you've got armourfend, i'd avoid using any polishes, but the EGP should be fine.

I've heard rubbing alcohol on a pad onto armourfend is a way of cleansing it, but I wouldn't be sure without checking first.

Justin - I use the Mothers range of products on my Tuscan and have done for 3 years. Superb products, easy to use and high quality. Drop me a note if you want a step by step guide on what products to use and how as I have an email with all details.

Good luck gettin rid of swirls with scratch x! Its very hard work!

If you get a wax aswell as egp, the egp goes on first then the wax.. After the polishing of course!

Nothing's easy when doing it by hand!

I use a Meguiars G220 and Menzerna polishes, they seem to do the trick nicely thumbup

I used to use this on the S I had! Its actually ok, very easy to use and always gave good results, the liquid wax worked very well for me. Currently use p21s wax, preclean and mothers top coat stuff, but would use the dt stuff again. Over the years Ive used alot of stuff, you can really waste ya dosh to your hearts content on all this stuff, really! Personal choice at the end of the day.

Dave.

Just got back from Halfrauds with a new bucket, cloths and wash-mitt plus the Autoglym Super Resin Polish and Extra Gloss Protection.

I couldn't find any Scratch X or any clay-bars... and they didn't have any anti-squeak tape (my rear window is driving me mad!). I dunno why I keep going there!

Don't have time to clean the car now and the weather doesn't look like it's gonna hold out this weekend so I'll give it a go next weekend. I'll try and get some before and after pics!

found this old thread while looking for valeting kits, did anybody else have a go with the DT stuff. I've used the Autoglym stuff previously but it leaves so much chalk on everything.
