Video: 2009 Porsche 911
Porsche shows how a promo video should be done...
After watching the Camaro driving so slowly there was a real danger of it stalling yesterday we were in real need of a proper promo vid. Luckily Porsche has come to the rescue with a full-bloodied, violin-accompanied corker of a promo for its updated 911.
Yes it's cheesier than a bag of wotsits but at least it makes you want to be there actually driving it. Check out the vid below:

I'm sure a psychologist or some sort of media analyst could explain the dodgy symbolism in this cheesefest. But in laymans terms, this seems like someting to knock one out to for people already signed up.
I have forwarded this video to all the sad 911 owning friends and family members in my address book ( there are more than Mondeo owners, and I don't mix in very exalted circles the things are just that popular!) and two have already expressed mild embarassment.

mmmmmm, not up to the high standard we are used to with Porsche, looks like they where only allowed to film on one part of the road...it's all the same.
The racing clips are far better; one thing that does stand out the shift stick looks far more pleasing to drive than the paddle shift

yawn, recent alfa spider ad made you want to 'be there' much more IMO.

So that's where all our EU roads budget gets spent then!Serisouly, I think the video is a bit tame and on the Porsche webcinema site there is some much better stuff. The Cayman - Technik Inspiration video (15mins) springs to mind.
But at the end of the day, if they cut out a lot of this cr@p, they would still sell as many cars as they do today and they might be able to drop the prices a bit (or make more even profit!).
