Brand new Mercedes Brabus van - Damaged by 2 companys.

Hi Everyone,


Im not happy at all, my new van has been away to have the back kitted out and Speedlinered and this is how it comes back!!! Even after strict instructions not to mark it, wash it or even touch the paintwork, they cause this damage...

First off, I find red overspray on the windscreen... I clay half the windscreen and this is what I find... There overspray is all over the van, lights, windows, paintwork and wheels...




Next off we have a deep scratch in the passenger door.



Bit closer...



Next is some scratches under the door handles...







This on the rear bumper..



This on the lower part of the sliding door..



Overspray on one of the wheels





Scratch on the front left wheel.. funny that the tracking it out as well.



And this on the chrome side rails..



Oh and not forgetting a bit more speedliner on the paintwork by the fog light.




Not forgetting the 4 dents I have either side on each sliding door, but thats another story as carried out by the same company...

I estimate that its going to take me a good 2-3 days to fix it perfectly back to how is was before I took it too this place.

Not happy...

All true, but "wrecked" is hyperbole.

These companys seem to think they can fix all of this... I don't even want to think how they would get the overspray off my van, probable with a crusty old machine polisher and a a 10 year old buffing pad!

I've been trying to get hold of them all week, only received a call yesterday.

I have too let them ruin the van even more I guess.

And yes it is wrecked in my eyes, as it was 100% perfect before it went to these companys.. I have even got 4 dents either side on each sliding door.

Especially seeing as it's probably for his paintwork correction and detailing business - you don't want your own to look a bleeding mess

You'll probably get more joy with the dents and the wheel with the now-iffy tracking. I know you're a perfectionist on the shiny issue, but the company will just say "like that when we got it, chief. It's a working vehicle, innit?" for the other stuff.

ETA: The "other stuff" being the scratches, obviously. You've got a case with the overspray.

Not good with the over spray etc - clearly they have taken the van down the chippy at lunchtime - which shouldn't happen, but it does.

Perhaps hire B.A. Baracus to look after it whilst its in for work - "I pitty the fool who touches my van"

Normally I consider people obsessed with car cleaning (sorry....'detailing') to have OCD, but in this case it is a brand new van, and the fact that it is representing the business makes it even more important to be immaculate. I wouldn't be happy with that, very poor service by the company involved.

It's no help now, of course, but perhaps next time you have work done on the van, you could agree beforehand the condition of the vehicle with the company?

I did, it was perfect, I even gave them a list of do and don'ts, lot of help that did. Now both companys are denying pretty much everything.

That's really bad form on their part, then. Perhaps some kind of signed document will be required in future?

"We, XXXX Body Shop, agree that Vehicle X is in condition Y with no (none, nil, nix, nada) visible marks or blemishes on the wheels, trim and bodywork. Signed : A. N. Employee"

Of course, there's every chance that they'd tell you to fornicate elsewhere in the interests of covering their own arse - after all, if the tables were turned and a dodgy customer (not you, of course - your attention to detail (ho ho) is well documented and I, for one, have no difficulty in believing that when you say "perfect" you mean "perfect") were to try to get a few scratches and whatnot fixed for nothing, they'd be hacked off and rightly so.

Here's a picture of the warped panels on each side of the van, something to do with the inner panel and glue they tell me.

Blimey, what did they do? use four big dollops of glue, one in each corner? Looks like a Tudor bullseye glass window. It goes without saying that scratches and dents are unacceptable. And as for spraying another vehicle in close proximity and getting it covered in overspray.

Very, very poor.

the trouble is paul, nobody takes the time, to do a good conscientious job anymore, except you or i,everyone is up against the clock, if that was on a conti gt or enzo,for somebody on here people would perhaps have more sympathy,as its a van (albeit a rare expensive one at that )people seem indifferent towards it,i would be the same as you are tbh,hope it gets sorted properly next time
