Diamond anniversary Lotus Europa

Lotus creates a £150,000 Europa

Europa: Blinging
Europa: Blinging
Lotus has unveiled a special one-off Europa worth £150,000. The car has been created to celebrate the company's 60th anniversary and features £111,000 worth of diamonds. The diamonds will be set in a special matt black bespoke gear knob and there is a specially designed rev counter were the diamonds will be lit by hidden LED lights.

The exterior has not been neglected by the diamond treatment - it will be given a special diamond flake paint job. With the black high gloss finish being sprinkled with tiny glass flakes. Lotus says this will give the illusion of the car showered in diamonds. The standard Lotus badge has been replaced with a diamond encrusted version.

Mike Kimberley, Group Lotus CEO, said: 'I'm always proud to launch a special edition Lotus and this commemorative, bespoke Lotus for our Diamond Anniversary is very special indeed. We are a global, high technology engineering consultancy and sportscar company and reaching this special milestone demonstrates our tenacity and creativity as
much as our expertise and professionalism.'

The Bespoke Europa will be on show at the Lotus 60th anniversary show.

I like the quilted black leather inside though, very 1960s.

I hope it has bullet proof glass because I can't see that gear knob lasting long in there

Must say I didnt like the Europa based on pictures. Someone said to give it a chance when you see one in the flesh.... Well yesterday I saw one in a car park and I still don't like it.

Agreed. I do like the Europa but this one-off seems like Lotus are going to far for a bit of attention. By now you'd think that they would know that all they have to do is release a limited edition colour with a bit of history to it to get on the front page of PH.

What were they thinking.

Chapman would only have approved as a way of getting the diamonds out of the country.

maybe shifting times are reduced round hethal with a quicker action due to lighter throw

diamonds are a girls best friend so maybe its aimed at one of the rich ladies out there that doesnt wear low cut dresses and never goes commando

Surely it's just for PR. Diamond anniversary so they make a diamond studded car! Shows what the company can do, it's a showcase for God's sake. As others have said, they'll give the diamonds back in a few weeks as it's not as if 'used' diamonds are really going to lose any value.

... and who in the right mind would buy one!!!
