Nissan Releases Second GT-R Video
Nissan and Porsche row II - the sequel.
Porsche has clearly struck a raw nerve by questioning the Nissan GT-R's lap time, because now the Japanese manufacturer has released a second video. The footage shows the 7:29 lap of the Nurburgring as well as some off-track buildup where the 50kg of test equipment was loaded on board.
A photo has also been released showing the stock tyres that were installed on the car, to dispel rumours the company was using special rubber. The actual lap starts about four minutes in and is unlikely to put a line under the whole sordid matter. Nissan and Porsche at the 'Ring: the story we all love to hate.

mabey porsche will start saying about the fuel it was using next....
they dont seem to like the fact that they now have new competition
erm, i dont think porsche have anything to worry about, the gtr chews gearboxes unless you dont drive fast.they dont seem to like the fact that they now have new competition
all 911's can be driven hard all day long, might loose a few clutches but they are made to go unlike the gtr which if you want to break it, will go with no warranty!
I too agree that people buy Porsche for different reasons, but if sales figures are to be beleived they are suffering more than most at the minute and I really do think many potential buyers have opted for the R8 and GTR. With the Porsche development program it is very hard to see how they could get these customers back as we have been enticed by something entirely 'new'
When the GTR was on Top Gear, JC seemed to make a big point about the engines all being hand built, and therefore slightly different outputs.
This to me seems like the excuse Nissan were putting out in anticipation of the obvious qeustions that would start being asked.
Just so happened they went to the Ring with a "slightly more powerful one"?

They've built a car that breaks when you use the launch control, and is not covered by warranty. Anything else they now do is irrelevent. Jokers.....
Absolutely, but how is it so difficult to verify? An independent assessor? A few stopwatches and some witnesses, both using fuel from the same tanker all on the same day?
Case closed.

And the fact people are taking delivery of more powerful cars than the official figures is a bad thing? This to me seems like the excuse Nissan were putting out in anticipation of the obvious qeustions that would start being asked.

Give a stock GT-R and a stock GT2 to the Stig, post the times on the Top Gear Power Board then and only then will the case be closed. The good old BBC as we know is impartial.
Now that we're fast heading toward communism those times will pale into insignificance compared to the mighty Trabant.NerveAgent said:
Nissan must be loving Porsche and it fans, the marketers are probably sitting about laughing.
+1Yes, that's right. There is a saying in advertising that all publicity is good publicity. Porsche have scored an own goal here. Nissan is going to keep this going for as long as possible, because it creates and maintains the associatian between the GTR and Porsches in the minds of potential customers. We are being subtly manipulated, as ever!

what does this video actually prove...?
Nothing at all...other than it's still a pig ugly Datsun...
Porshe fanboys still at large?Nothing at all...other than it's still a pig ugly Datsun...
Seriously, why don't the Germans just admit that supercar-making isn't reserved just for them and the Italians?
R32 GTR was able to eat 911 in its time and NSX was a bad car only when "bad" meant "no bull no horse on the badge".
C'mon people, be adult about this. Leave fan-boy culture alone.
