What is it like to own a Lamborghini?
Discussion
Since I'll be saving for a Lambo a while longer, perhaps a year or two, may I request from the good owners here some inspirational stories
I never considered myself a poser as such, but by definition I must be, as I enjoyed the attention a nice car (TVR) got me in the past, especially the smiles, thumbs up, shouts from the street were usually unexpected/amusing, great conversations on forecourts and suchlike. Simply polishing your beastie on the driveway often turned into an interesting conversation with a dog walker etc. I can only imagine owning a Lambo in that respect would be ten times more... Im not sure what the word is, but I imagine it would be just as much fun, probably more!
So, just what is the positive side of owning a Lamborghini really like??
How big are the Grins, and just how great is the attention? (Ever too much?)
Whilst quietly considering/working/hoping for one as a future purchase, on more than one occasion Ive wondered to myself "hang on a second... this might just be TOO much, it'll draw no end of attention!" but then Ive always wanted a Lambo, and thats part of the whole fun experience which makes ownership of such a car so much fun.
Especially decatted with a TUBI?
Not to mention the likeminded people you meet owning one.
Happy to hear the contributions of Fezza owners too of course
Its rather quiet in here. Come on, lets hear some stories!!

I think im perfectly qualified to answer that having had a tvr tamora, tvr sagaris and now 2 x 360's (a modena & a spider).
I luvd the TVR's but nothing, i repeat nothing comes close to Ferrari or (I should imagine) Lamborghini ownership. Im like everyone else, sometimes when I get home after a hard day at work. I put the F in the garage and stand & stare at it for a few moments and have a little smile. Then wonder what it would be like to own a F430 LOL.
The attention is way over the top tho. Conversations, pictures, road races, people in corsas following you and the same old comments. Everyone wants a piece but at the end of the day its just a car.

I've been very lucky to have owned some decent cars and the 355 is by FAR (and I mean, daylight second) the best car I have owned in terms of enjoyment and pretty much the best fun you can have with your trousers on.
It's not particularly fast, its not the best looking car in the world (but its up there I think), or the rarest but in terms of noise, look, feel and just unadulterated joy every single time you go anywhere near it, there's just nothig else that comes close.
I like working on it, cleaning it, driving it, looking at it etc. You get the picture.
Like all nice / aspirational (for some) things, the attention is sometimes negative but mostly positive. If it bothers you then you should probably buy something else but I simply tend to ignore the odd negative and am more than happy to spend time with the people who come over for a chat in the petrol station or wherever. I remember when I was a kid being allowed to sit in some cool stuff and just loving it so I always try and repay the favour.
<puts sensible mum hat on> All the above is caveated by the fact that it is only a car and should be treated as such. Its great but its not everything. <takes hat off>
But it is SO MUCH FUN

Thats certainly the way it seems, from the outside of the ownership circle

Clearly ferrari have pole position then, as far as enthusiasm goes

We'll have none of that talk here
It's hard to describe the whole experience...
A Diablo has such a sense of occasion over it... Just walking into the garage and seeing it sit there makes you smile...
When you start her up, it sends shivers down your spine.
The car is soooo much more than the sum of its components. The noise, vibrations, the looks, the feeling, the rawness, the attention...
Even though the ride height, width, and impracticality in wet conditions make it a challenge to own, taking your time to cross speed bumps, or even driving under the speed limit doesn't bother anyone, while Johnny Plastic in his 1000 BHP Nova might not survive...
Things can get dangerous though... Here in Belgium, there are about 15 Diablo's... Suffice to say, seeing one "in the wild", drives people insane... They'll pass you on the wrong side, even over emergency lanes, they'll tailgate you, or slow down in front of you, while filming, taking photographs, challenging you to race or encouraging you to rev the engine...
When you're at the traffic lights, you might have people walk over to talk to you, and even more so at gas stations or when parking somewhere...
Although quite some Ferrari owners have the name of being annoying, most Lambo owners are quite friendly... Same here... If I have some time, I always chat with interested people, show them around the car etc...
I love my car

Hi Robster
I hope you get you dream, I also like your self wanted a Lambo and like yourself had a TVR Cerbera... one of the best smiley cars I had ever had ...UNTILL I bought a 1992 Diablo in Red and let me just say WOW !!! forget this talk of Ferrari.....!!! Lambo is the way to go.
1st Story
I had my car delivered and as soon I took the wife out we took a steady drive down the road and was driving for about 5 minutes when we hit a set of lights, whilst we where waiting a car pulled up next up to us with a guy going crazy with his window down...."Fu.....g lovely car mate!! Wicked !!! rev it!! " and it was at that point I thought to myself if I was in a Ferrari would I have got the same reaction ..... No Way !!! although there this will be unpopular on this board ...let me just say form experiance the reaction you get in a Lamborghini is one of admiration rather than jealousy... people don't realy look at you they are looking at the car !!! which is what I like about owning a Lamborghini.
I have since sold the Diablo (which broke my heart) but I did have a repreive as I purchashed a Murcielago Which I love just as much if not more !!!
The reaction you get in a Lambo is crazy, my driveway is not protected from the passing public and I have many times looked out of the window to see groups of people taking / having pictures of them next to the car on my drive, but as long as you can sit back and enjoy this rather than worry about your car you will enjoy the ownership much better !!
If you are going to get it before Christmas you may experiance more carol singers this year.
Good Luck and hopefully in 2009 you will join the Lamborghini club and meet many like minded fanatics....

Robster. I owned 3 TVRs (2 were Cerberas) and I loved them all. They were fantastic for putting a smile on your face (and others).
I took the plunge with Lambo about 3 months ago, and the only negative thought is the fear of there ever being a time in my life when I don't have one!! It is FANTASTIC!!!!! I honestly believe that I would give up driving if I couldn't keep one. Nothing could ever compare. I could spend all day looking at it, but then that would take time away from actually driving it. The whole experience is worth any work/effort/saving you put in to owning one.
I'm not the sort of person who looks for attention at all, but people are drawn to the car in droves. Keep your feet on the ground by remembering that they are looking at a stunning car, which they would look at it whether you're driving it or not - that makes the attention easier if you're uncomfortable with it.
99 times out of a hundred the comments and shouts from other cars/pavements/pub gardens etc are positive. People love to ask about it and appreciate you taking the time. If you have any sort of 'attitude' then I reckon you'd get some negative reactions. Nobody likes a poser.
Coming from TVR I was convinced mine would have to have a Tubi because I got so addicted to the noise. I actually ended up with a regular exhaust, and I quite like it that way. It makes a change for it to be a quiet drive around town, but you grin from ear to ear when you put your foot down on the open road and here the engine bellow. It's a completely different driving experience to the TVR. It doesn't need to be 'driven'/managed all the time and is much more refined in that way. But the power .... !!!!!!
I have no doubt that other drivers get a similar feeling from other marques (ie F drivers), so in my opinion it comes down to what you have always wanted. If you have always wanted a Lambo and you work/save hard for it, it will repay you a million times over. Plus, as you can see from the forums, there are loads of like minded people who will share and support your passion.
I said when I first came on this forum that I felt privileged to own one, and I still do. To have access to this car is amazing.
Kids surround them, kids and adults take pictures of them, cars stop, pedestrians stop, mates want lifts all the time, girls take their clothes off (alright they dont, but wouldn't kill them to once in a while!!!) but best of all, you ALWAYS smile when you turn the key.
If you get the chance, don't hesitate

I'm not an owner, I'm only 18 so I've only been on one side of the fence so far. I try not to annoy or waste the time of the owners of Lambos or other cars so I admire from a distance, but in my opinion if you want to turn heads then orange, green or yellow Lamborghinis are the way forward.

Really?You're doing it so wrong!

Reposting:
I told her to lick it:

(She actually really DID lick it but I didn't have my camera at the ready then!)

In my experience, the difference between the Fez and the Lambo is:
- In a Ferrari people will look but only once your back is turned and when they know you can't see them checking out the car / you.
- In a Lambo everyone checks out the car instantaneously and don't care who sees! The girls generally hope you DO see them checking it / you out. Driving past Harrods the car got a round of applause from about 15-20 Italian tourists. I regularly get people stepping out into the road to take pictures.

It (the car) *constantly* gets people taking pictures when yo're driving along - you will go through a phase of being paranoid about being flashed by speed cameras where there are none - it's just all the camera flashes going off!
The stories could go on for ever - there is a thread on here pages and pages long by guys on 'Questions commonly asked of supercar owners'. That's worth looking up for some cool reading

Basically - James May is a miserable old douche bag who has lost the love of life.
As a kid I dreamed about having a Lamborghini.
Yes it really IS *EVERYTHING* I ever imagined it would be.

Got a girl to lick my car the other day .... but it was frosty.
Killed the moment. Took 3 hours to get her free. Doctors reckon she'll be talking in a week or so.
I've still got it

Hey - at least she couldn't run away!

I'm enjoying the peace and quiet while it lasts

Cactussed - My first ferrari was an F360 F1 so I missed the whole 355 experience. But everyone whos ever owned a 355 claims its the best car theyve ever driven. What other cars have u owned?
Hi mateThey're in my profile, nothing particularly amazing but some nice enough motors.
I've not owned a 360 but have driven one and it was lovely. It feels a larger car then the 355 which, once you get used to it, is fairly go-kart like, at least to my mind.
Not sure about the whole handling on the limit business, as if I got to that point, I'd probably end up in the scenery in either car

That's strangely accurate, and I have not yet figured out why. I wonder if there's more envy toward a Ferrari. Anyway, the right kind of attention is fantastic. There is definitely a difference in the marques though as dr_fish describes. When I've had the pleasure of being taken out in a Lamborghini the fun factor is there wherever you go, I just hope one day that they make one that's a little lady-like.

I don't drive yet, but I hope to be soon. Anything to keep me out of buses, and don't worry, once I'm able to drive I will be annoying everyone at every meet in the country.
