I can't help you I'm afraid, it's just one I came across but pure luck. Maybe someone knows how to make it bigger?

Rindt and Stewart, 1969 British GP. Rindt would have won if Chapman hadn't been stupid with the fuel (again).

The circuit used to give a wonderful little dip down to the becketts hairpin. There is some beautiful footage of Dan Gurneys Eagle with Jimmy and Graham in the Lotus 49s form 1967 on the video 9 days in summer.

Thats Graham Hill in front. he was number 1 in the Lotus in '69 and Rindt was number 2. And it's Hill's helmet. Cant make out who is behind though, Jackie Ickx in the Brabham, maybe?

You are indeed correct. I only have a Blackberry screen to look through at the moment. The tell-tale signs are there, I can just make out the pattern on Hill's lid now and his left front wing is knocked at an angle. Could the Brabham behind be Piers Courage in the Williams run BT26? It looks like the Williams colours of 1969. The race number would be 16.

I call 'shop on that one. Even in the unsafe '60's that saloon car would have been cleared before the F1/F2 cars were racing. It also looks like the car that was 'shopped into the photo around page 50. I can't see a camel

Probably not. A bit wild and really only a gifted amateur who made his way into F1 when it was at its most accessible. I suspect Piers lacked the ultimate application to be champion. Having said that, you could say the same about James Hunt, and look what happened to him....

I have just finished reading the excellent Piers Courage biography by Adam Cooper (lump in the throat for the last two chapters.)

I believe that Frank and Piers could have done it. Maybe a private Lotus, or back to Brabham rather than "the Tomato" that they had in 1970. He was certainly rated as third after Rindt and Stewart by some. Ferrari wanted him for 1970.
