Nissan GTR SpecV - Official at Last

Lighter GTR to cost £114,000 in Japan

Nissan has finally confirmed details - and issued pictures - of the circuit-orientated GT-R SpecV limited production model that goes on sale in Japan on Feb 2nd. The new model is being targeted specifically at ‘enthusiast drivers who desire race car-level performance in a street-legal vehicle’ the company says, as if we didn’t want this car enough already…

Pictures released in Tokyo today show the SpecV resplendent in its exclusive Ultimate Black Opal paint. Other new exterior features include a rear spoiler, grille and brake cooling ducts fashioned from carbon fibre, and the lightweight forged-alloy wheels that are already available for the GT-R via the NISMO options list.

Inside, the new SpecV loses its rear seats altogether, while the driver and front passenger get special Recaro carbon fibre buckets and a few carbon fibre trim embellishers dotted around the cabin.

Performance enhancements come in the form of improved mid-to-high range torque, re-tuned suspension settings and carbon ceramic brakes. The extra torque is released courtesy of a new high gear boost control device that momentarily increases the twin turbochargers’ boost pressure to provide what Nissan describes as ‘a more powerful feeling of acceleration’, while also allowing the engine to operate at lower speed for improved economy. There is also a titanium-coated exhaust system.

With reduced unsprung wheel weights, tweaked suspension and carbon brakes, we look forward to seeing how the SpecV upgrades affect the GT-R’s already formidable lap times – not to mention the on-road experience. The SpecV will cost nearly 16 million Yen in Japan, which is roughly £114,000 at today’s exchange rate. Ouch!

Will current owners be able to have the upgrades installed? (at a price obviously!)

UK customers should be taking delivery of the new GTR soon?

At £114k will it represent as good value as the standard car? I doubt it.

depending on what it's capable of, it might be OK for the money. still, A LOT of money. and i am in no way a badge snob, but who's gonna pay over £100k for a Nissan? only the very rich or committed race drivers etc.

yes, i'd own one were i rich enough.

Sigh. It's a lovely car but oh-so-slightly out of my price range.

Who is actually thinking of spending 100k+ on their next car? Who? Who?

Forget the badge snobs - there aint many cooler badges than GTR V-Spec [or Spec-V in this case]. Double the price of the standard car though...daaaaaam! Can't wait to hear about some of the track times smile

You could buy a 997 GT2 for that money. Way too expensive, and no power hike? Not impressed.

Worst value evah...

Once the Japanese die-hards have bought one, I predict they will sell almost precisely none.

Will they even offer it outside of Japan? Bearing in mind the £114k pricetag is the much lower Japanese one...

Autocar reported recently that the Spec-V lapped the 'Ring a massive TWO seconds faster than the stock car.

Crikey - that really does represent value for money.

I'm sure it's a great car, but in that colour, and with those exhausts and wheels, looks-wise I can't help but think "it's a lightly "pimped" Hyundai Coupé".

Man thats a big hike in terms of cost compared to the standard GTR.

I just wish instead of a in gear over boost mode they had really reworked the engine and gave it in excess of 600bhp which I am sure it is capable of.

How much is the normal GTR in Japan these days?

I think it looks amazing!

And the thing to remember with the price is that's the Japanese price, at today's current exchange rate, which is crap! 3 months ago the same price tag would have equaled less than £90k.

Still a lot of money I know, but I'm trying to bring some objectivity to the price quoted!

Seems a crazy amount of money extra over the standard car...
It seems that Nissan are pricing it into the GT3 RS market because it is such a strong performer... I mean it surely can't be there (in that price range) on merit over the standard car; shirley it isn't twice as good... scratchchin

17,835,450 yen is for a fully loaded model, the press release states 15,750,000 yen including taxes...

To translates either £97,600 or €123,900 or $159,100 for a stock version (basically minus Carbon Ceramic brakes i believe!)
