I'm sure this has been posted before, but I was there yesterday with my Libra and just had to take a couple of pictures of the Ultimate Ultima.
It was in for a couple of upgrades. Upgrades???!!!! How do you upgrade a twin engined, twin turbo 1000bhp 4wd Ultima?
Amazing! I have never seen such attention to detail and quality anywhere. Anything from a mini subframe to a bespoke Ultima or a 600bhp 4wd TVR. They all get the treatment. To top it off Chris and his boys are just the most friendly, knowledgable bunch.

quality work!!
i seriously doubt 1000bhp but never mind im sure its mega mega quick, with the mega budget that must have been spent on that vehicle it should be awesome.
Why not?i seriously doubt 1000bhp but never mind im sure its mega mega quick, with the mega budget that must have been spent on that vehicle it should be awesome.
There are turbo'd Hayabusas out there with 650+BHP. IIRC there is at least one extreme version with a proven 720 BHP which was limited by the spark strength!

Surely hanging a dirty great big fuel tank out the back of the car, can't be the best place for it.
I used to own a z cars twin westfield (the orange one) and lets say the welding and chassis design were questionable.
I'm sure they are much better now.

And having the tank out the back is surelly no more dangerous that having one each side of the car?... not seen many rear end shunts in an Ultima, but plenty of spins etc!
Personally Id rather see the tanks protected by the chasis no matter were they were.
Not sold on the car personally... guess I think a supercar needs one very big powerful engine lol

Spoke to a Guy at Briton Speed trials, he built a 650 bhp Busa around a Engine that had 20,000 miles on it. Original Crank better rods and pistons, but the bores where not touched... It pulled some very quick times.. Busa motors are very robust, but like a lot have said wrong engine for this application IMHO, Twin Turbo LS2 must have longer legs...
First of all I want no part of a peaky turbocharged plumbimg nightmare in the back or front of my GTR. That said, Honda made 1500 hp in qualifing trim with the 1.5 liter F 1 motors. Around 1100 for race trim. The Group B rally cars made 550 hp from 1.5 liters and ran for 3 days all day in the mid 80s. So I do not doubt that with all the hill climb track day car experince that is present in England that 650hp out of a hyabusa is not doable. The question is why? BUT THATS UP TO THE INDIVIDUAL, WE ARE ALL SICK PUPPIES BY DEFINITION. lEE

so 10000rpm and god knows how much boost is reliable?? cant see it myself bike engines/clutches are designed to pull 200kgs around not 1000.
A standard busa makes 180bhp so increasing its power 3 fold means its still reliable...... umm
il stick to my lazy old V8
And how much is a std SBC? 200bhp ish? and what did they rev to as std? 5000rpm ish?... I used the SBC as a comparison deliberatelly because at 600bhp its a highly strung as a 500bhp buse engine.A standard busa makes 180bhp so increasing its power 3 fold means its still reliable...... umm
il stick to my lazy old V8
The busa is designed to run 10,000rpm as std.... and there are a lot of 500kgs cars reliably running single busa engines on std box etc... this one will have different internals and clutch and is running 2 engines to pull its 1000kgs.
As I said Im not sold on the car myself... but there is no doubt the busa engine is a contender for the best affordable performance engine ever, and there are 2 of them in there!

To be honest I'm amazed the car even runs....
It runs with the help of Motec ecu's acting as a centre diff. It has inputs from both engines monitoring every concievable variable. The engines thenseves I believe were built for the job by Jack Frost of Holeshot fame so should be up to the job!
I know it's different and not everyones bag, that's why I posted it. I love the whole engineering side of it and what they have done to make it run properly.
I guess I have to agree that it was a problem that didn't really need solving, but what a solution!
Not really a fair comparison IMHO, the SBC will cover 150'000 in standard form if well serviced, will a stock Suzuki engine/box?....And how under-stressed is a stock Buza anyway?
One-off eccentric toys are not really comparable
Some nice engineering though....... as is often found on one-offs.
