Wiesmann Prototype in Autobahn Smash
Wiesmann accident exactly a month after fatal Porsche prototype crash
A Wiesmann GT prototype has crashed on a German autobahn exactly a month after a fatal crash involving a Porsche test driver. Both accidents happened on Friday 13 but in the latest incident no one was killed.
According to reports the police concluded that the Wiesmann driver was travelling on the left-hand lane of the motorway when a red BMW E30 Convertible changed lanes from right to left.
While the test driver tried to avoid collision with the BMW the E30 veered further left and into the guard rail but swung back to the right. As he steered right he hit a truck, while another truck also collided with the prototype.
It seems that both the Wiessman and a number of other vehicles were damaged in the crash. Damage is estimated to be 150,000 Euros and two people were injured. The police said the driver of the BMW did not stop and is wanted for questioning.
Exactly a month ago a 911 prototype crashed on the A5 Autobahn, killing a 51-year-old Porsche engineer. Witnesses said the driver, who has been with the company for 25 years, had been driving at a high rate of speed in the 998 prototype.
This only shows that it's way too easy to get a driving licence.
Take that away and you're going to p
s off a lot of enthusiasts and engineers. Many of which are central to the German economy. Unlike our government the German's support it's industry.I'm fairly sure the autobahn will be capped but it'll be when it's economically viable to do so.
It actually sounds like an accident that could have happened at 30mph for all we know. Reads for all the world like a drunk/incapable driver causing everyone else around to evade and have an accident. If anything, this proves that speed does not have to be the cause of every incident. Won't stop people trying to link it as such.
