Pagani Beats the Crunch

Zonda F ClubSport fetches £770,000 at auction

The first ever Pagani Zonda to be sold at public auction has gone under the hammer for a massive £770,000 - nearly twice its original price tag of £400,000.

That impressive figure suggests that not only is Zonda acquiring classic status but rare and prized luxury commodities like limited-run handmade Italian supercars can still be a safe bet for those lucky enough to be able to afford them.

The F ClubSport was the coupe number six from the limited run of just 25 cars, and featured every option available. It sold with just 4,500 miles on the odometer.

The car was auctioned by Coys with no reserve to a public audience, and no information is known about the winning bidder.

We've left the advert up on PH Classifieds for you all to have a good look at.

Fantastic car but I still think I would take a Carrera GT and £450K in change.

Are Auctions the best way of judging somethings value? Some might say so, but actually, if a bidding war occurs between two bidders they might well change the real value disproportionatly.

If theres only one serious bidder at the auction next time round this price might look rediculous. I've seen an auction with two people squablling over buying one item, and pushing the price right up. Following auction same items appears but only makes a third of the price.

A friend of mine was at the auction, he is a dealer and was representing a client - the max they bid was £375k, then apparently two gentlemen form the Middle East got in a bit of a Pis**ng competition! Hence the result - these things happen occasionally, but this is by no way a reflection of the true market value of these cars - trading that car right now would result in a massive loss!

Unlikely- Zonda's seem to be one car that are pretty much depreciation-proof. Bear in mind the company have only made about 100 road going cars, making a Zonda 4 times rarer than an Enzo, for example. LHD drive cars in particular have gone for vastly over 'list' before. I have often wondered why Pagani don't just increase the sale price sufficiently to double their profit margin, they could still virtually guarantee selling every car they make.

Not necessarily.

A left hand drive Zonda F clubsport sold for just over 900,000 euros recently so the UK car is priced about right IMO.

Amazing... Cant help but feel that i would have made time to drive all of the cars though!... doesn't seem like he's that interested in anything other than their looks.

Yes as the CLK never gets ragged around the tracks.

He may appreciate the beauty of the cars. He also enjoys driving them.

Are they still in business? I remember going to their new premises in Maidstone and drooling over some of the exotica.
