German car show reveals details of new X6 (in German)
'Out my way - the kids are late for school'
If you like standing out there’s nothing quite like a BMW X6. Whether this is for the right or wrong reasons depends on how you look at the monstrous SUV coupe, but if it is ‘presence’ you are after it takes some beating.
But soon there will be a way to stand out even from the X6-driving hoi polloi – and it’s going to be called the X6 M.
The ‘M’ version of the X6 – along with the X5 M – will be arriving next month but in the meantime we have some new footage of the ultimate up-yours to, well, everything really, courtesy of German TV show Grip.
According to the program the cars will accelerate to 60mph in under five seconds and will retail for 100,000 Euros. Our German is a bit rusty so we don’t understand anything else sadly but what we do know is that an X6 M, a frozen lake and a free afternoon look like a good combination…
What a joke, they would rather build these than a new CSL......
One of the interesting things mentioned though was the use of the camouflage on the cars. And the designs (the funny swirl effects) supposedly prevents computers from working out the new contours/ design of the car
I wonder if people will look back in 10 years time and wonder what the hell BMW were thinking developing this. In today's climate it seems it's a case of fiddling whilst Rome burns

To be fair they were probably developing this in late 2005 / early 2006. Height of the boom.
You can argue that lots of cars are pointless. My Lotus is pointless because it doesn't fit 4 people, anything that does more than 70mph and isnt used on a track is pointless.....
This is PH, lets not bash a new car just because it isn't something we might want to own/drive. The world would be a dull place if we all drove a Prius.

And why don't you tell us what you drive?
Elise R (weekends), and a 320d M Sport BMW (all in my profile). Why?

Oops, not you sorry, I meant the 'critic' above that you quoted.

Let you off ;-)
By coincidence a possible change in job circumstances (better job but c.600m a week) means I might be getting rid of my 130i and replacing it with a diesel hack/weekend toy combo. Your pairing is exactly what I had in mind!
