My 360 needed some TLC....

After owning the car for 22 months and having done 19k miles in that time my 360 was looking a little worse for wear.
Couple that with an incident which left the rear wheel arch with a dent, scrape and white paint from an unknown source and i decided she needed a little bit of TLC.
so after a service at Carrs of Exeter (who kindly picked up the car from me and then dropped it off to Alsa Automotive in Wales) Alun set about my car..................
Day 1
A few before repair.
Damage straightened & panel beaten out.
Light skim of shaping filler & stopper applied & blocked down.
Area masked off, primed & guide coated.

I asked Alun to deal with any issues he found as well as the front bumper stonechips, as a result the next few pics may not make for comfortable viewing!
Repairs done on o/s/f wing, leading edge of bonnet (there was a depression adjacent to the badge) n/s door & corrossion cleaned off & treated around side repeater holes.
Front bumper, lamps etc removed.
Repairs masked & primed.

Obviously she needs blocking & machine polishing now (that isn't the final finish on her!)
But (dare I say!!!!) well on course.
I should mention that Al is doing this as a rush job for me because i need it back to go on tour on April 17th and i want it Paintshielded and detailed before i go as well...

Have to say it's great to have the amount of communication about whats going on that i've had so far.

I've been thinking of getting my Tuscan resprayed a bit to tidy up stone chips and the odd scratch.
Having not had a car sprayed, what worries me with these big spray jobs though is how you get an invisible transition where all the masking tape is placed. I can seee how it is easy to get a bumper perfect because you can take it off.
How does it work with the rest of the car though?
For example at the top of the doors where the window seal is fitted. When new, the doors would have been painted bare. When you respray how does this transition look? Similarly by the windcreen seal.
Also the edges of the bonnet or was this sprayed open and then closed? Looking at the car closely will you tell that it has been resprayed?
This is not a criticism of whats being done but questions as an interested party.

however the proof is in the way it looks...catch up at a meet soon so you can look over the results?

I haven't been out and about much recently (hurt my ribs skiing and then busy with mainly work things) but I was thinking of coming to your Dunsfold charity meet in my orange car if not already too late. If you are there in the Ferrari I'd be very interested to take a look.

Basically on a bigger job with maybe a little less of a tight time frame;) then all of these items would be removed. But the key to a job that has no hard masking edges is in 1) masking properly 2) preparing the surface to exactly what you you want to do (i.e it's no good heavily sanding an area that you intend to blend in) 3) not going fully to an edge with the lacquer coat & washing that area with a fade out product 4)be prepared to do a lot of polishing back in these areas once the paint application is finished.
