Probably not - it'd be too popular and detract from 911 sales IMO.

i think there will always be rumours but it will never happen...just expensive options available like carbon brakes and roll cage...

Cayman ClubSport is on the way in October if the rumors are to be believed.

Whether it's correct or not, only time will tell.

I don't think we'll ever see a Cayman RS. Like 997 RS said, it would be an extremely popular track car and steal sales from the 911. Imagine a lightened Cayman with a GT3 engine and aero improvements. biggrin The CS, if it does ever emerge should be interesting though. Although I'm a 911 fan, I still think it's a shame that Porsche don't give the Cayman the engines and setup it deserves.

So what about the Carrera CS? The Club Sport is a striped out version of the 'standard' car with added aero tweaks and designed to around the same price of the standard road spec cars. RS cars are higher performance models with GT based engines etc. There's no reason why there couldn't be a Cayman CS and a Cayman RS.

Edit: Added link to pic.

you are going back a bit there, either way can never see Porsche makign an RS boxster or cayman as it would be a better drive than a lot of 911s, on which Porsche make a hell of a lot more profit

Agree.

Whereas a cheapish, low spec Cayman ClubSport, with a few trick performance bits is unlikely to take (m)any 911 sales.

Autocar have run an article which stated Porsche would be looking at a 911 991 (presume this is the 997 replacement, no idea why it isn't 998, unless they used that internally already?) Club Sport... I like the idea of that a lot...

No rear seats, lightweight seats and trim, no sunroof, optional stereo, M030 suspension and sports chassis as standard... 100kg off the standard weight (maybe more) and a standard engine for base Carrera price - As has been said before, many of us would be all over that!

Talk of a Cayman ClubSport has surfaced again. Going to be announced at the LA Auto show in November apparently. Seems to be more widely reported this time, so maybe it'll actually happen.

Planet 9 have quite a bit of info on it also. Sounds much like the Boxster Spyder. Which is no bad thing. http://www.planet-9.com/news-items/47086-cayman-cl...

I agree. A 'clubsport' would be logical. RS's tend to be essentially road versions of Cup cars which have proven track engineering and as a result require little or no R & D. Since there is no race version of the Cayman planned it would be relatively easy to put one on a diet. Would be a lovely little car IMHO.

Think I'm going to stick a letter of intent with the dealer here in Dubai. Shame it won't be an RS but the lack of racing pedigree would make sense - crazy really, the privateers that have run Caymans have done a damn good job! Show's you how blinkered Porsche are when it comes to the 911.

A CS is going to be the next best thing.

currently the cayenne is selling the best followed by the boxster/cayman range.discounts on new or nearly new 911 range.so if you want a family runaround you buy the cayenne, but if you want a sports car from porsche(bar the gt/turbo range)you buy a cayman/boxster
