7Min 27.56Secs For GT-R At The Ring
Nissan knocks a second and a half off GT-R lap time - more to come today?
Nissan has returned to the Nurburgring with the 2010 GT-R and chief test driver Toshio Suzuka to continue its assault on the volume production car record.
According to a Nissan press release issued yesterday, the test team has clocked up a 7:27.56 lap with a Japanese spec GT-R running optional V-Spec RAYS forged alloy wheels and Dunlop tyres.
Although this is significantly faster than the GT-R's previous record, the team will continue to press home its attack today – if conditions are right - under the direction of Nissan's GT-R engineering chief Kazutoshi Mizuno.
Apparently yesterday's time was set in dry conditions, but the track had a coating of dust and sand that is said to have reduced the available grip in some places.
Although the team is celebrating a new GT-R record, the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 has previously claimed a 7:26.4 lap time in production trim – so Nissan's quest for extra pace continues.

I love the ACR but it is far more focused to the track then either the GTR or the ZR1 thats why I think it doesnt get a mention thats all.

Dodge also only had one go at the ring with only a few laps and anyone who has watched the video cant help but agree the car was not at all suited to the track with the gear ratios being totally wrong, where as both GTR and Vette have been away to take stock and have another go and by all accounts the GTR is practically designed with a ring time in mind, yet neither have managed to beat the time.
