Rare Ferrari Goes Under The Hammer
Ferrari 330 P4 on sale at Ferrari HQ
One of the world’s rarest Ferraris will go on sale next month as part of the 'Ferrari Leggenda e Passione' event at Ferrari HQ in Maranello.
The ultra-rare 1967 Ferrari 330 P4 is one of only three original P4s and can claim some impressive provenance with an endurance race win at Monza and a third place finish at Le Mans.
Chassis number 0858 will go on sale at the RM Auction in Maranello alongside a large collection of other Ferraris and three historic Maseratis, amongst which is a 250F race car. Organisers anticipate the combined collection will set a record breaking total for a classic car auction.
The P4, however, is the star of the show having been driven by racing legends such as former Ferrari F1 driver Lorenzo Bandini, Le Mans veteran Willy Mairesse and Scotland's very own Jackie Stewart.
‘With only three original P4s ever built, to say this car is rare is an understatement. There is tremendous excitement surrounding 0858's appearance. Its a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to acquire one of the most important race cars ever created.’ says Max Girardo, Managing Director of RM Europe.
The P4 has been owned for the past 38 years by the same collector, who has shown it at a number of exclusive salon events across the world.
A full list of the cars on auction at the event can be seen here.

I doubt even a winning lottery ticket will be enough to buy that.

Don't think so, that was a 312P that dates back to the early 70s and I think the guy was French. Fantastic model though.
I thought that the P3 and P4 was a closed car, or at least with a lot smaller "hatch" in the top. Fantastic car though. There was a P4 in the support race at Le Mans a couple of years back if my memory serves me correctly.

Stunning.
Takes the Ferrari talk away from their current F1 performance for a little while.

Some very petty metal in the auction, How cool would it be to have a Ferrari F1 car in you garage !!!! I'd love to hear that 2000cc v12 running as well !!!!! I need to get back to work now........

I like how the MC12 is offered with factory miles only, as the current owner never collected the car. How amazing must that man's life be!

Its a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to acquire one of the most important race cars ever created.’ says Max Girardo, Managing Director of RM Europe. With a 3rd at Le Mans and a Monza endurance win? b ks it is. I wouldnt even place it in the top 10. Yes its a rare race Ferrari, however it is certainly not one of the most important racing cars ever created. The 2 that beat it at Le Mans are probably more important for starters, do you not agree?
