Building on the successes of the past two years, the 2009 American Air Day will once again showcase the work of the United States Air Force in Europe and, in particular, the Third Air Force, based in the United Kingdom.

The day comprises a rich mixture of flying and ground-based displays, including fly-pasts by many of the USAFE aircraft based in East Anglian, flown from RAF Mildenhall and RAF Lakenheath.

On the ground, USAF personnel will be showcasing their work in the UK as well as explaining some of the more intricate details of their aircraft, equipment and their missions.

As before, the day will also feature displays by Duxford-based historic aircraft, acknowledging the historic link between Duxford and the United States Air Force that dates back to 1918 and is represented today by the stunning American Air Museum in Britain.
