Legal, although urban myth has it as illegal.
Do a search - there were some threads on this a year or so ago IIRC....

If you have a windscreen = (I think this is the case anyway)

Aeroscreen = You'd be foolish not to, I can't breathe at about 60mph without a helmet and seeing is a bit tricky too.

Wouldn't like to be clouted by a stone on the bonce at that speed either.

Nope - I have a Caterham with a windscreen and the local police told me it was OK as long as 'you aren't deemed to be racing on the public roads'

It does stop the lax power brigade from trying to race you away from the lights though
