Pic of the Week: Fiat Coupe LE

Mind the puddle!

When it took our Shed of the Week slot a few weeks ago, we were reminded of the Fiat Coupe's elegant form penned by Chris Bangle almost two decades.

So for this week's desktop we've brought you Kelvin Toh (kelvin27)'s Limited Edition model. Seen here in a good old fashioned underground carpark snap, it is in rather better nick than our shed example. The rather lovely twist to this picture came as a result of a small flood caused by a drainage problem, which we tentatively assume was with the building, and not the car...

Thanks to Kelvin for this lovely picture, and remember that we are always looking for submissions for Pic of the Week. We can't promise to use everything we're sent, but if it's in high-resolution and you've got the right to use it then send it over to potw@pistonheads.com and you may find your picture on here very soon.

It all went downhill from here with Mr Bangle.

First time I saw one of these was late one night in London, it had Italian plates and with the Zagato Hyena fresh in my mind I assumed it was some other Zagato special! Didn`t see another for AGES and it drove me mad not knowing what it was!

Oh no. No offense but I'd say at best that's an average photo of a dog rough car. I've never liked it but I still remember being at Uni doing Industrial Design and one of the lecturers going off on one about just how and why it's a badly designed car. I'll be keeping the P4 on my desktop for now.

I always loved the Fiat Coupe. Shame Fiat have had no sports car range topper since.

Dog rough? I'd like to hear your reasoning behind this.......and maybe the general jist of what your lecturer said?

Cheers

Sorry, not feeling having an old ugly fiat on my desktop.
Still got the GTR GT on mine. For me, that's going to be hard to beat at the moment.

A mate had that exact model! A "Ferrari" red LE. Utterly savage power delivery, quite shocking, a total adrenaline rush and all to a quattro-rivaling soundtrack.

In fairness the Z4 Coupe was pretty good as well but not really keen on his other BMW handywork.

Not sure about the Coupe on the pic either. Regualar non-LE cars look better to me and maybe red isn't their best colour. Lovely car though.

Ha! "no offense".... That`s the same as starting a torade of abuse with "with the greatest respect......"

I`m sure Kelvin27 won`t be offended at all by your comments about his photography skills or how badly designed his car is!

The Fiat Coupe 20VT is such a pleasure to drive and own, you forgive them any small irritants.
Lovely picture.

I know what you mean and I did think the same with the 'no offense' thing but I decided to leave it anyway. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion on cars; it's the variety of designs and people's opinions on those designs that makes the car world so vibrant and exciting. And as for my comment on the photo, he shouldn't be offended, after all, it's photo of the week. I just think that photo of the week should be stunning and this isn't.

And I know what you mean, it`s great that people like different cars and aspects of design etc which then creates conversation and debate which we all love (and creates forums on the internet) but this is probably the bloke`s pride and joy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was many years ago now so I can't remember exactly what he was saying. I just remember his rant because I didn't like the car and thought it was funny hearing him talk about it. I do remember one point being about the wheel arches. Those slashes at the top limiting height, wheel size and tucking them under the car, or something along those lines. As I've said though, the content is very hazy now. Sorry.

My coop albeit not a vt is a great car. Had it 3 years and its mechanically very strong so long as its been well looked after. Did several thousand miles across Europe last year and had no probs whatsoever. Quite practical too with a large boot and some leg room in the back. And the noise of the 5 cylinder is great, who cares if its not RWD handling is still fab ... Will be a difficult motor to replace

It may not be your cup of tea, but that car is a fellow PHers P&J.

You may not like the car, but there is no need to kick a man in the nuts for the sake of posting.
