Just been to a watch dealer in Leeds over the weekend and was informed that there will be a price rise on the 1st of June...

Can anyone confirm if this is true or just speculation? Will be buying a 116203 by August, and am wondering if i should bring the purchase forward a couple of months or not...

Interesting. Think i'll take the 'risk' and wait until mid July to buy it.

Should take a week or two to turn up im guessing.

Went to Goldsmiths who told me about the price rise.

Also spoke to Berrys and Owen & Robinson.

O&R have given the best price so far.

Sounds like a standard salesman's practice to get you to buy now.

I've not heard June, but a couple of months from now.

I've been after an Explorer II for a while now, and I've seen a price increase of a grand (!) in the last 18 months. Rumours are the Ex2 will go up to around 4 grand now (currently 3600), so I've now got one sat on my wrist!

It's probably gonna earn more than any savings account right now! Well, that was my excuse anyway!

I'll be placing an order by the end of the month, the list price of the watch is high enough as it is!

Will have to be done, increase or no increase, as its a birthday present for my dad who turns 60 in a couple of months.

Eh Yeah it should be this month, they are waiting on the catalogues as far as I was told. Breitling 12% Rolex 10%. Goldsmiths told me they were not giving any brochures out now till the price rise.

owen & Robinson are excellent. Proper customer service. I bought my GMT tehre, and ever since they have been brilliant - mounted some diamond earrings for thw wife for nothing, free battery change on her Cartier etc. Just brilliant guys and good stock.

I guess with sales dropping with the bad economy, the only way they can keep their bottom line flat or on an upward trend is to charge, those who can afford it, more.

Truly not right! ranting

I'm guessing it's more to do with the weak pound relative to the euro. I'm also guessing that if/when the euro collapses relative to the pound the prices won't be going back down!
