Been quoted half the price BMW want to cover me for the 535d M Sport for 12 months. My manufactureres warranty expires on 30/06/09 so need to act fast.

Wondered if anyone here has their BMW covered with WD and what their experience has been like? I've opted to used main dealer for repairs.

Cheers guys

I've heard fairly good things about them over on the Z4 Forum, with someone having the roof done @ c.£1500.

I have known a few people who have used them and said they are a joy to deal with.

I took out a policy with them this year on the M3, they were £600 compared to BMWs £1550.
I had a broken rear spring, called them to ask if it was covered and they said 'no problem, take it into a main dealer and get them to bill us."

BMW even said that they wouldn't have covered a broken spring as they would have classed that as wear and tear.

Mate had a turbo go on his 320d in Jan, they replaced it at the main dealer. Then he had an ECU fault and they replaced that too.

Only time I have ever heard people moan about them is when they are asking for absurd things to be covered.

I've taken a WD policy out on my 05 535d Sport.

I got them down to £420 (4 months interest free @ £105 per month) compared to £66 per month for 12 months with BMW.

If you plug in all your details online, get to the last screen then cancel, they will call you back the next day with a better offer (mine came down from £550 to £420)

I don't know if they are any good, but I have seen them recommended as the best of the thrid party warrenty suppliers. They are also very flexible on price: I've recently bought an 06 530i Touring and the dealer was offering their warrenty at £700 for three years, WD were able to come in £290 a year and have a much better reputation than what the dealer was offering.

I am paying just over £60 for my 550 M Sport with 8k claim limit and no excess with £70 per hour labour covered. I haven't had to claim for anything yet.......

I've claimed a few times, no problems at any stage, provided their rules are followed they're fine.

I just bought a 530D SE 32K miles 53 plate - I bought a warranty from Warranty direct - What a load of crap ...

The car did not start took it BMW and they tell me that water has leaking to the Harness and DDE unit.
The warranty company do not pay the bills because caused by corrosion

DO you know if BMW should cover this - the car was first bought in Nov 2003 (just over 5 years ago)
I heard there is a 8 year corrosion cover -
What action can I take

So looks like another (un)happy customer then.

Correct me if i'm wrong here, but the problem was caused by water ingress not a fault. I wouldnt expect any warranty company to pay out for that, no more than they would pay for flood damage. Would you?

I think thats covered off about with "Only time I have ever heard people moan about them is when they are asking for absurd things to be covered. "

The springs ARE covered by the BMW warranty. When my E46 M3 was recently in for a brake fluid change they informed me that one of my rear springs had broken. I re-booked my car in and they replaced BOTH sides free of charge under warranty. smile

Interesting, they said to me that it would under a new car warranty and AUC warranty, but they had not managed to get the extended warranty company to cover them.
