Dont understand why you need to ask ! There is a step change in performance and comfort , and with used 997C2S prices where they are there's never been a better time to find out.

Gary you've answered you own question. "After getting my 9th 993". Says it all really. If you fancy a change go buy a 3.2 Carrera. It will remind you every time you drive it why you fell in love with 911's in the first place smile

+1

If you want a exec saloon, go buy a BMW and enjoy the 993 at the weekends. There is much more to Porsche ownership than travelling at Mach 5 all the time. My father has a low mileage 993c2 and I love driving it when I pop up North to say Hi.

Oh, and if thay are anything like a 996c2 i'd run a mile. I had one for the weekend, biggest heap of st I have ever driven (no offence). Rattles everywhere, cheap plastic interior, just horrible. I like the look of the 997, and not driven one. If you're keen on a newer car I'd go for a turbo or GT3. You might have to get an older model but at least they may be put together properly.

I love my 996 and everything about her...I know they're not the purists choice, yes the front looks like a boxster, they have inherent faults etc...but she's mine, I love her to bits, she's never let me down and I still look at her from an upstairs window parked on the drive two years later.

But I also love and appreciate all other Porkers too...993's especially do it for me too, I love everything about those cars, the look, the heritage, the prestige, and the thought that they were the last of the proper Porsche philosaphy models with air cooling etc...

Looking at 997's, me opinion is that the look and styling captures a modern take on the 993 but with the reliability and design of an up to date car.

If I had the money, I would trade mine for a 997 any day of the week.

Great cars...own one now! Life doesn't get any longer, just do it.

993s are easily old enough to qualify for the £2k scrappage so you're in luck! biggrinsmile

If you want faster, have you considered a 993TT, or perhaps you've already had one if you're onto your ninth!

993 and 997, totally different cars

if you 'get' the 993, then you shouldn't be asking the question IMO

and if you have to change out of boredom, i'm with Graeme, backwards is better than forwards hehe

Just bought a 997 C2S and it is all I expected it to be. Just cant find the room to stretch its legs anywhere at the moment!

That's what dissapointed me about the 997 C2S, you always seem to be wanting to go faster to get the the point where it delivers the promised fun.

Gary , try getting the loan of one for a few days and put a couple of miles up on her.
Sure it's definitely a 911 but the ethos and feel of the car is totally different. Think GT and you're close to the mark imo.

Okay , I can understand folks saying it's lightyears ahead in power, technology, chassis development etc etc , but tell me , if you had the choice , would you rather a flight in a Spitfire or a
Cessna???

3.2C or a 930.
I went forwards and found myself back in an older one, purer driving experience.
997 Turbo.....................maybe!

Really, depends what you are going to use it for.

I love my 993, as a weekend toy it's hard to beat, but I wouldn't relish the prospect of driving it up and down the motor way everyday.
