Hi guys
Im looking for some new tyres for my 944 turbo s. I currently have goodyear eagle f1's and id be more than happy to buy another set as i think there a great tyre. The only problem is they dont seem to make them in a 245/45/16 for the rear anymore. I can only get the fronts 225/50/16,so i have been looking at toyo proxes t1-r's which i started another post on but ive just found a site on the net that seems to have BRIDGESTONE SO2's in the right sizes for my fronts and rears, but i thought i had read that they were not made anymore and had been replaced by SO3's which seem to get terrible reviews?. I have seen the SO2 called the best tyre ever made but was just wondering what peoples thoughts were on them.
thanks in advance.
regards.

great all purpose tyre and in their day just about the best thing in the wet life is a bit suspect though and they overheat on track though

I've got them on a spare set of 16" wheels for my 993.
Never used them on track but they are fine in all conditions including sub zero temps, but not on ice. Never used them in snow or on the track. They have hardly worn after several thousand miles.
Compared to the Conti N1s which were on the car before, they seem slighlty less comfortable over the small bumps but give me more confidence around the bends.
My tyres are date stamped 2006, I don't think they made any more since then.

You can still get the Porsche (i.e. N rated) SO2s (or at least you could about 6 months ago when other SO2s had been discontinued)

I've always run them, and intending to buy another pair in the next couple weeks. I think they've worn well, but would certainly agree that they get very hot and sticky on track

regards. Last year I did Brands Hatch, Goodwood several times and to/from/and 11 laps of the Nordschleife on recently made SO2s - N3 KZ versions. I think they are superb - better than N2 Contisports when warm, but very slightly worse when cold.

I've got then on my 944 S2 and the back end has only gone on me once on a very cold and wet day in winter on a muddy corner when I got on the gas a bit early. Other than that I drive it like stole it when it is safe to do so and they always inspire confidence in the bends.

I have N rated SO2's all round and have occasionally thought about starting a thread about how NOISY they are.
Grip / wear / price is good but do they drone on some road surfaces.

I've run my 993 on B S02s for the last 11 years. Good grip in wet or dry, and good tyre wear. (but I also understood they had been superseeded by S03s).

SO'2 are great in the dry, however in the wet they are awful IMO. A few years back I was driving back from Wales after England had beat the Aussies in the Rugby World Cup. I was in an S2000 then but it had Bridgestones and I had heard they were not great in the wet. I was on the M25 , it was not raining but there was water on the road , I was doing 70 mph, next thing I knew I was going backwards down M25 doing same speed after I aquaplaned. I hit the central reservation and had a ten grand dent. When it was repaired I had F1's fitted which are by far the best wet weather tyres going IMO.
So for dry use only Bridgestones are great, for all weather F1's for me in your case.

I agree there amazing in the wet,the continentals contisport contacts i had on before i found deadly in the wet,ive never had the back come out in the wet with the f1's. The only problem is i cant find any in 245/45/16 for the rear, the fronts are available but no rears??? It seems to be between bridgestone so2's or toyo proxes t1-r's at the moment,id consider michelin pilots but they dont seem to do the sizes i need either. If anyone knows off anywhere i could source a set of 245/45/16 eagle f1's that would be a great help. regards.

I've currently have them on the back of my 993 C4 and don't rate them at all in the wet, actually they are the second worst wet tyres I've used, the worst being Pirelli p Zero Asymmetrics or what ever they were called.
