Sports Chrono Package
Discussion
Thank you for confirming.
Very exciting, picking the car up next week. It is a good spec car with low milage (29k miles).
I purhcased from RSJ Sports Cars - excellent guys - Darren and Joel, Highly recommended.
Also, one of the things the car does not have is BOSE - is that a big deal and is it worh upgrading the speakers?

The standard Sports Chrono Package is for cars that don't have the PCM, but since the C2S comes with PCM as standard, your car will definitely have the Sports Chrono Plus. The Plus enables you to record data to the PCM and therefore compare laps over time and see if you're improving.
Theyre not the same-
Sport chrono - allows the PSM to intervene later and gives an edgier response to the throttle. When in conjunction with the PCM its called sport chrono plus and allows configuration of some of the comfort settings like light delay etc. It also gives a lap timer on the dashboard and PCM lap timing facility.
BOSE - top spec sound system includes a dedicated amp and sub woofer between driver and passender seats
Sound Package plus - A speaker upgrade and amp but no sub woofer
The BOSE is excellent and well worth seeking out,if 7 speakers and a bass box is your thing!

I have got Bose and find that I need to turn the bass down to -5 to make it sound right. On "0" the bass is disjointed and it makes my kidneys vibrate.Sport chrono - allows the PSM to intervene later and gives an edgier response to the throttle. Yup, same here. Sounds great when its all set up properly though. Phil Collins never sounded better.Manks
I am surprised that a car as good as a Porsche 911 would not have got the sound system nailed. But out the box it's poor.
Ditto the phone handsfree which is crap. Porsche tells me that there's a software upgrade available and the mic can be moved from one side of the steering column to the other which assists in people actually being able to hear you. But the mods are at the owner's expense.

Just been searching the net under "Porsche + Bose + internal organ vibration" and there is a mod for the sub-whoofer involving stuffing it with pillow stuffing.

I dont think its that bad, but as you say, the standard bass settign is absurd.I am surprised that a car as good as a Porsche 911 would not have got the sound system nailed. But out the box it's poor.

My car has the PCM Nav function, but not the phone module....I heard is was pretty ropey anyway, so dont think I'm missing out.

So since I have PCM I have the Sports Chrono Plus?
I was under the impression that I already had an amplifier with the upgraded sound pack - so is it just a subwoofer that is difference? Or are the speakers actually better? Thanks again

Yeah you do have an amp with the sound pack, but BOSE is better quality speakers(but in audiophile terms theyre not that good, just better than the standard ones)and yes a bass woofer in between the seats, which I quite like since I guess I listen to what people call chavvy music lol, although Ive got LBC in there too for sensible moments.Trust me you wont be able to tell the difference unless you are into speakers! (you can upgrade to better than BOSE at a hifi place anyway).

Oh so that would be fine to do in the future - I will probably just change the front speakers...Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
