Camaro SS Kompressor By Karl Geiger

Blown Chevy conversion makes 568hp and tops 195mph

Big alloys are the only clue...
Big alloys are the only clue...
Time for a bit of multi-culturalism, folks, by which we mean the relatively laid-back muscle of the latest Chevy Camaro SS getting a dose of ruthless German efficiency courtesy of Munich tuner Karl Geiger.

Herr Geiger has taken one of the first 6.2-litre LS3 V8-equipped Camaro SS's to arrive in Germany, and done what comes naturally - bolting on a socking great supercharger and a free-er flowing exhaust to uprate the standard car's 432hp to a highly respectable 568hp at 4,100rpm with 590lb ft of torque.

... to the Camaro SS Kompressor's potential
... to the Camaro SS Kompressor's potential
The result, according to the latest press release from Geiger Cars is an SS that will hit a top speed of 195mph if you're brave enough to hang on. A 0-60 time isn't quoted in the press release, but something around the 4.5sec mark seems plausible.

In order to maintain a semblance of controllability, Geiger have installed up-rated coil-over units at the front, and added adjustable anti-roll bars on the front and rear axles. The brakes have also been upgraded with six-pot callipers at the front matched to 380mm grooved discs, and four-pot callipers with 355mm discs at the rear.

Externally, with the exception of those Geiger Cars stickers, the car appears standard apart from its wheels and tyres - uprated to 10x22ins light alloys with 265/30 front and 295/25 rear tyres.

What's not to like? Except possibly the price, but we know we can't afford it as they say we've got to ask...

That is the kind of car I would get out of the way of! It looks so mean. I don't particularly like the blinging rims but cannot think of any other wheels that might suit it better.

Agree. Muscle generally looks better on higher profile rubber imo

Only right it's black as the guy's name is Geiger hehe

Eh??????

Where's the bloody supercharger in the engine picture?????????????????????????/

Plastic air box goes straight into inlet manifold so no twin screw or centrifugal blower there???

It's just a pimped up looking stock car isn't it????

The brakes in the picture are stock too. Are these the "before" pictures?

In before the "if only it was RHD comments"

it does look rather evil and even in stock guise it would be my choice of the 3 latest gen Muscle cars (new Challenger, 2010 Mustang being the other 2).

That rear 3/4 shot makes it look like an angry Audi A5.

Funny. Reminded me oddly of an R32 Skyline.

I think most cars would fall foul of that test. I think it looks evil.

Of course, it's still not as fast nor does it handle as well as multi Silver State Challenge winner "Big Red"

The Chevy badge is so horrible it almost ruins the entire car for me. At least make the inner gun metal or something, that gold is horrid. Looks even worse on some of their lesser models.

I really wish they had used the wing mirrors from the concept too.

The blower is indeed in the middle. People forget that because the LS engine is a pushrod, it is very low compared to most ohc engines and the blower sits very neatly in the vee. The sheer size of the inlet pipe could only feed a blower.

I'd be interested to know what blower they installed that fits perfectly under the engine cover with the throttle body in exactly the same place and configuration and using the stock intake pipe.

Stock engine bay:

I suspect there is no supercharger in there at all and they are just quoting what they could provide using a Magnacharger or Harrop or similar.

Yes yes yes!!!! I like... a lot! But those wheels (IMO) do not suit that car! I think the ones used on the transformer film (yes i know they're concept wheels) suited it perfectly.cloud9

I want one in matt grey with black painted steel wheels, stripped out interior and nothing but Bruce Springsteen and Steve Earle on the stereo. Is this a midwest-life crisis?

It's extremely picky, but are the interior dials and gearlever surrounded by silver crappy plastic?

It looks like a great car, but silver plastic of any sort just ruins an interior.

Can't wait to see one in the flesh though. Exterior looks fantastic, and it's not like it's short on power!
